Kanrethad Ebonlocke

Should teach Warlocks how to be real Demonology Locks again and not wieners who stand in the back behind a bunch of imps. Give locks back their Wings and Demon form and let em' Tank.

You know what isn't a match for the power of the Burning Legion? Class Fantasy.
Wasn't he an object lesson in exactly why you DIDN'T want to do that?

Well...technically he WAS but then he was all better in Legion and was a Bodyguard.

So everything worked out in the end.

They should scale the fight for green fire to instead of leaving it level 90 and a cake walk
Yeah, if only you could play as someone who takes demonic energy into themselves to grow wings and become resilient enough to tank enemies, even transforming into a demon! Legion would have been a great expansion to include this hypothetical playstyle in, too.

I'm pretty sure that from all the nerfed locks in WoW, this one got hit the hardest.

it was never "locks" thign to begin with.

yes it was fun and changed how the spec was played, but lore wise it didnt fit.

no.
largest nerf to locks was the firing of Xelnath in MoP. The one person on blizz team who ACTUALLY liked and understood warlocks.

his visions were great and only needed refined in tuning #'s.

Huh? They put tons of lore in for it, including an entire quest line that was filled to the brim with lore and the reasons why there was meta.

tbh that's the piece of lore that stands out for me the most in this game. Most of the rest of the storytelling is silly rubbish.

Yeah, pretty much dropped my lock as soon as it lost meta.

I don't want to play a dumb demonic ninja thing just to have it back(even though it's not the same as demo's meta at all, both in appearance and gameplay), and least of all do I want to play an elf.

I miss my little gnome demo lock building up his power before suddenly "boom!" a big purple demon with all kinds of cool abilities with entirely new functions.

It's also why I hope necromancers never come to WoW, because I know for a fact that what happened to demo lock is the same thing that would happen to unholy DK. Unholy would have all its undead-raising spells removed, turned into some lame pimple-popping wannabe aff-lock, while the new necromancer gets all the undead; ruining the whole appeal of a DK being like a necromancer who is no stranger to putting on the heavy armor, and swinging his own weapon.
I’d love for Demo to become a tank spec but I also don’t really play Demo as much as-is so I understand why someone who plays it regularly might have an issue.
The best part about the Kanrethad fight was that it showed that you could focus on summoning empowered demons while in that demonic form. I will never deny that the focus on Metamorphosis was a little too much, but it didn't need to go away to fuel the demonic summoner fantasy. If anything, Demonic Empowerment could have been that demonic form and a DPS cooldown that amplified the damage of our summoned demons instead of the hated crap they gave us for the entire expansion.

However, I realize that would have made Demon Hunters less special by comparison and Blizzard was really trying to sell pre-orders for that expansion and make the newest Hero class as special as possible for the expansion they were being introduced in. Business decision in the end, but it made them a lot of money off of pre-orders.

It actually did fit lore-wise because Blizzard created lore specifically for this.

Like they do everything else in the game...

fun fact: DH existed before that lore ^_~

Meta was a DH in Warcraft 3.

Not a warlock skill. DH.

Excluding Kanrethad... NO warlock becomes meta form. And that was more a UNIQUE thing given he absorbed a specific magic and it was NOT reversible.

QQ about it all you want but lore dictates:
a) DH had it originally.
b) kanrethad was a unique case
c) spec wise...it made no sense. Demo uses demons. It is never meant to be a nuke heavy caster (that was destros case and atm aff's)

Gosh, if only there was a class who had that ability for years before it was stolen.

You're never too old to be immature and anyone that tries to use age as a metric of maturity isn't really mature themselves!

You keep ignoring the fact they created lore for it to make sense for the player. It wasn't unique to Kanrethad. Did you not do the questline?

It makes sense because Blizzard is the one in charge of the lore and they made lore for it. That's the only justification needed.
