Kalimdor is boring now

Honestly, in terms of the kingdoms across the lands, the wonders & significances – Most of it has either been greatly diminished, bled dry or had its importances wasted away …

  • I mean, you’ve had Orgimmar seiged … Sort of twice, so it’s grand status is sort of :-1:
(Rather embarrassing for the apparently ‘mighty’ Horde)
  • Darnassus has been burnt to a crispy charcoal stump, yet lore-wise the Night Elves have barred the Horde from Ashenvale along with the forests just east and north of their prime city & seat of power.
  • Nordrassil has its ‘Well of Eternity’ established as NOT very eternal – and is easily spent, as per the druid questline in Legion.
  • Thunderbluff along with Mulgore doesn’t really have much importance to it and from a handful of perspectives is rather boring.
  • News to no one that Moonglade has long since seen any significance to the area.
  • Uldum had its utmost significant sites and locations bled dry in BFA.
  • :pinching_hand: All of the enemies outside of factions throughout the continent are established as mere nuisances or pests than actual ‘threats’ now.

And so on … All the other zones have lost their spark & grand postures — The only one that stands to show some significance and ‘awe’ in lore is (and rather ironically) Silithus  Many of us would love if some more story and gameplay appeal could be poured back into most the continent.

So for the sake of ‘General Discussion’ —

I thought I’d present the chance for the people to present opportunities & ideas for how the glory of Kalimdor could be restored once more … So

How would YOU improve Kalimdor

I would invent toilets in the Horde capitol cities because… well…

Yuck.

Have you been to that meadow in the mtns on the edge of Mulgore just as you’re going into Stonetalon mtns from Thunder Bluff where all the small animals are having a war?

There’s rabbits with knives, squirrels with swords and other animals and they’re all out to get each other.

There’s a lot of weird things in Kalimdor.

“I’ll admit – You got me there!” — I mean that’s fair.

However still one of the few good things about Kalimdor. :sob:

You posit this claim at the beginning, implying that you will talk about ancient “wonders and significances”. But then you follow up with:

Which are neither ancient, nor wondrous, nor significant.

Anyway, the ancient wonders of Kalimdor have been in steady decline for 10,000 years. The Kaldorei Empire, the most powerful, beautiful, mightiest, largest, richest, most advanced, the very pinnacle of mortal civilization on Azeroth, fell 10,000 years ago.

The Kaldorei Empire is clearly meant to be Warcraft’s version of the Roman Empire, a once-grand civilization that was once the master of all lands, but was reduced to a mere shadow of its former self.

Kalimdor, that once contained wondrous, gleaming, magical metropolis as Zin-Azshari, Suramar, Eldre’Thalas, all now fallen into ruin and abandoned to the wilds or savages. Relics of a long-bygone era that very few alive can remember.

The Night Elves must be the proudest race in Azeroth, and they are well-entitled to their arrogance; for they alone built the mightiest mortal civilization in history, one that fascinated and intrigued the Great Titan himself.

Suramar still standing, just in other place now, and it’s not abandoned.

:eyes: Well … That’s kind of still applying a further extending point of mine, that Kalimdor is boring (particularly for those regions) – No? :joy:

I like how we’ve spent more time in that titan chamber under Silithus for the past few expansions (and in TWW) more than we’ve been in Kalimdor as a whole.

Kinda telling, imo. So much space in the old zones and yet it’s all wasted/irrelevant.

So…? It’s no part of Kalimdor.

They were more-so responding to Varodoc’s comment on how Suramar has apparently: “fallen into ruin and abandoned”

Much of the former commentary of Varodoc’s part isn’t really relevant to today’s Kalimdor — Only the Kalimdor before the Sundering. :person_shrugging:

You know that modern-day Suramar is just a small fraction of the original city, right?

Original Suramar was MUCH larger, and it contained the Temple of Elune, the holiest place of worship in the entire empire, which is now in a different zone and serves as the Tomb of Sargeras.

The vast majority of Suramar was sunk beneath the waves, as you can see in WC3. Which was actually a retcon, since pre-Legion ALL of Suramar had sunk beneath the waves. The Highborne shielded only a very small fraction of the metropolis, which is what appears today as modern-day Suramar.

Furthermore, modern-day Suramar opened its gates to Demons and savages. It’s original sanctity has been despoiled and tainted.

Modern-day Suramar is but a shadow of its ancient beauty, a recurring theme in the Night Elf story.

It literally has. Play WC3.

Majority of Suramar is in ruins (and pre-Legion retcon, ALL of Suramar was ruined).

Including the Temple of Elune, the once-holiest place of worship in the world, now the tainted Tomb of Sargeras.

And Ancient Kalimdor is the only version of Kalimdor that was wondrous and beautiful. It’s almost like the point is that Kalimdor has been in steady decline since the Sundering, as its mightiest civilization was literally sunk beneath the waves. Just look at Azshara (the region), Darkshore, Desolace, Feralas, Azuremyst Isles, and so on.

Modern-day Kalimdor is but a shadow of its former self, by design from the writers.

Literally hasn’t :upside_down_face:
You are, by definition – Factually incorrect.

Play Legion.

Obviously not ‘ALL’ of Suramar was ruined.

If we’re going to knit pick on trivialities such as how much has shrank – Regardless of it still being quite significantly large, then by that extent just about every kingdom has lost its original value.

Guess the entirety of the Alliance’s kingdoms have been lost then – According to your logic, given they too opened their gates to Demons (The Eredar)

 I swear, much of you Darnarcissists are gonna be whinging about how far from grace you’ve fallen, especially in attempts to derail threads — Until the entirety of the cosmos flickers its last souls into the Shadowlands, Nether-Realms and the separate afterlives still yet unforetold; til’ the many gates of the great dark beyond close its doors to the realms beyond until it is remade anew by beings beyond your comprehension…

And even then, y’all will probably continue to despair :joy:

Factually wrong, as Stormwind is stated to be more beautiful and glorious than ever.

Not interested in fan-fiction. The exchange is over. This is not ao3, I did not come here to read fan-fiction.

But it’s not its original value though, is it?

  • Stormwind was destroyed by the Horde in the days of old.
  • Stormwind lost the park from the wrath of Deathwing.

Whether it’s been upgraded or degraded - or even an odd combination of both — Stormwind no longer holds its ‘original’ value.

You’re right though, the exchange is over — In the past you’ve posted your own head-canon and posted it as ‘factual’ - Even with masses later proving you wrong, but you refuse to acknowledge it lmao

As I’ve said before Varodoc: If I wanted to have an exchange with a clown, I’d go to a circus.

You know, many have oft rejoiced in idea of Erevien disbanding their time on the forums … But then we see you Varodoc and we realise the grim truth — He is a necessary evil.

Fight fire with fire & all …

:fire: :fire: :fire:

No, because it’s GREATER.

Are you going to claim that Modern Kalimdor is of greater value than Ancient Kalimdor?

Whatever. Have fun taking quests from Alleria and Vereesa in Silvermoon come Midnight.

First by making it a tad more dangerous out there questing in the world.
Old content has no feel of threat at all at this point.
