Kalimdor Cup

Events

  • The Kalimdor Cup is now open to all players level 30 and above. NPCs have been added to Orgrimmar and Stormwind to start the quest and spend your winnings.

This is from the patch notes, but I can’t find the quest anywhere. Anyone seen an npc in SW or Org for the races?

Oh I haven’t. Got mine in Valdrakken.

Gotcha. Just got back to the game and I fear I wont make it to Valdrakken by the end of the event

You need dragon riding in order to do the cups so it’s likely you won’t see them until you unlock that feature, unfortunately

You’ll be able to make it, 10 levels and the Dragonflight intro.

2 characters is enough for set assuming you can get gold on the normal/bronze on reverse/advanced.

Nope. Either they are not there or they hid them where no one would ever look. By the docks or the portal room are the obvious places to put them…but yeah, about that.

As soon as you can fly at the fastest speeds (lvl 30) you can dragonride, if I recall.

Took a lowbie that could fly into Valdrakken once, and he could use his drake.

Likely Solution: Per an EU blue post, the NPCs have not been implemented in live yet

What annoys me the most about this kalimdor cup is that they basically just officially made it possible to dragonride in kalimdor and eastern kingdoms but they refused to enable it everywhere. That’s bs

Is there a requirement to having unlocked dragonriding on the account?

On alts yes, but I believe you have to have dragon riding already unlocked on the account. The OP made it seem like they were just returning and had not yet done any of Dragonflight.

They wouldn’t even have a dragon riding mount since that comes tied with unlocking the feature.

Could you imagine doing races with zero glyphs and capped at 3 vigor and slow recharge

I haven’t checked yet but does the quest pop up on alts too?

Most if not all would be impossible as landing for more than a few seconds kicks you back to the start. I think they said there was a mode they’re making with no boosts in it or something so I’d assume it’s the wind and green power ups gone.

Bit of a tester, I’d imagine. It’s probably coming in some form next expansion. Right now, it’s one of the “major features” of Dragonflight, so they’re not gonna make it part of the base game until it’s done.

That should be a Feat of Strength achievement for even completing it.

Looking at you Barrens

The cup races are a beta test to gather data. Widespread implementation will come later.

Get ported by a mage

I asked the same question. Apparently, there is a post on the EU forum saying that the NPC’s are not in SW or Org yet and will be added in a patch. No word on when, and, since the race ends on the 28th, likely won’t be available unless there is a surprise patch very soon.

I think there is some scenario-like system that gets enabled during the dragon riding races that isn’t the same as just having dragon flying freely available over the entire continent.

I do think they will be able to use the data gathered though to help with eventually having dragonflying everywhere.
