Alrighty…I’ve mentally prepared myself for the thrashing and the forum regulars and all the insults and hateful comments. So here we go.
Good morning everyone.
I don’t wanna make this too long I just want bring up a point. There’s too much going on. Between the multiple game modes and multiple currencies and multiple story lines to not really having any idea what direction to be going in for what reason it all just feels like kinda a mess.
The game is great.
It’s fun…just completely lost. I’m on my third 80 and I still have no idea who any of these characters are or why they are doing anything. I know I’m supposed to be getting some stones for something and getting wax…there’s some tier gear thing but you can’t upgrade without a certain level of something else and then there’s a campaign after the campaign.
I know this isn’t a bad thing…it’s good to have a lot of content it’s just that it feels like none of it is for any reason. Nothing feels connected.
The amount of farming is kinda insane with the prices for the thing where you make the gear. All those little things you gotta buy are just more gold than I’ve literally ever had. It honestly feels like they don’t want people to go very far in the game between the complete and total lack of info as to what’s actually going on and how to accomplish anything…the truly overwhelming amount of farming you need to do and the resets all the time.
Can get to max level in a day from start but then what? Feels like you’re just sort of left dangling… particularly for people who don’t have long time groups still around.
Delves are cool…it offers a solo outlet to just push buttons but it doesn’t really reward the stuff needed to upgrade and make gold and yada yada…it’s just literally a time wasting endeavor…
I don’t know it just feels like the more I play the more I don’t really have any reason to play when I know it’s just more and more and more and more and more work so that it can all be reset. Seems like the grind has become the majority and the playing has become like…a few minutes outside of the grind. It should not take several hours of farming to make enough gold for one repair…it should not take several hours of farming to be doing instances in 5 minutes.
There’s too much work for not enough being able to enjoy the work we’ve done. Shrugs … rant over I guess.

I have 14 level 80s and still have no idea what the story is really about. Every time I try to get invested in the story I realize just how bad the writers are for this game so I just don’t bother anymore.

That was my problem I really honestly tried this time. I was truly watching all the scenes and reading all the quests…then I just…I mean I gave up. I am still watching some stuff and new characters are just popping up like Ive known them for 20 years…I just shrug and move along. I have…ZERO clue as to what I am suppose to care about. Just feels like…well…I honestly don’t know. Lol

Try reading my whole post. It’s 100% intentional that I don’t know what’s going on because derp da derp, if you read the second half my post, I gave up because the writers are terrible and the stories are always a mess.
Last expansion we literally had the “power of friendship” will conquer all. Before that, the LotR rip off.

I’m playing because I want to enjoy the game. Not have a second job. I don’t understand the need for all the endless levels of stuff to do that doesn’t actually do anything for you.
We used to be able to log in…clear some stuff and get a reward that we would have for a good long time.
These days you long in and never stop working…there isn’t any chill in the game anymore. A piece of gear should be a piece of gear and the story shouldn’t be happening across 4 zones tied together from little pieces of story that dont really make any sense. But honestly the story isn’t really even the issue it’s just the feeling of never being accomplished. I’ve done the raid, every single dungeon and a bunch of delves now multiple times and I still have to do them multiple times plus multiple more to get the gear upgraded…knowing it will all start over soon. It’s daunting. It’s too much and it feels too much like a job. It’s silly. I would still play just as much just like I always did with or without the nonsense …so, why the nonsense?

Youre trying to do too much at once. The beginning of the expansion is very overwhelming. You should focus on 1 character until you are finding less and less to do. Then move on to an alt. Do the same and then the next. Especially if like to do everything.
Dont try to do everything, everywhere, all at once with an alt army or you will stress yourself out.

I mean this isn’t new. The story has always been spread out across zones.
And you don’t NEED to upgrade your gear.
If you already did the raid, dungeons and delves and completed the campaign, then you’re done.
Now if you wanna push seasonal content and rewards then obviously you need to get on the ilv mouse wheel.

I mean I guess that’s true. Just feels like it would be more fun if it wasn’t such a race. Shrugs…I guess I’m just outside the norm these days.

For me it’s seasonal content and story campaign.
So first is delves, which I killed heroic zekky so I’m don’t with that.
Then I work on KSM for the mount and pvp for the elite set and illusion.
Then I do LFR for the raid story.
Then I’m done and I’ll level alts.
Only for the last patch so I have extra with the aotc mount

I don’t do well with walls of text, so I admit I stopped after the first 6-7 lines.
It sounds like you blasted through making a bunch of 80s… and may have missed a lot of the what and why. That’s almost all answered through the quest dialogue.
I do agree there is a lot of currencies and stuff (I only recently realized what undercoin is for) and so much of it is for extremely ugly cosmetics.
Grinding is and always has been staple to WoW. There’s just more to grind for particular things. As far as I know… I don’t feel compelled to grind anything I don’t actually want to. I want to gear up. Delves and M+ give me that. Basically nothing else in the world except coffer keys for delves matters in that regard.
Professions? Mining is just a gold generator for me.
