This is used a lot by Horde players saying Night Elves deserve everything for the many bad things (Sundering) they borught to the world, especially Belf players, not knowing they are playing the race that did it. I do think it’s silly to blame everyone, but in this case, everyone that used magic was in some way guilty. Though the biggest ones and whose fault falls harder are Azshara and Xavius, as not every Highborne knew of this, I assume.
Tyrande said nothing but “We’ll see where Elune guides us” and Thalyssra was triggered.
Regardless, I say the way Void Elves and Nightborne joined the other faction was ridiculous and badly thought.
Sadly. And we end with cities destroyed and never rebuilt. Nothing good comes from faction wars.
Misses the mark a bit, when I did it, Tyrande also said things along the lines of “How do we know you won’t become another Azshera? Another Elisande?” and pretty much fell back on Elune after calling the Nightborn out for the crimes of the leaders.
The last time Tyrande saw the Nightborne, they were with the Legion (then left), next time she hears from them, they are with the Legion trying to summon Sargeras through Illidan.
I can’t blame Tyrande for being the only Alliance leader who speaks blunt, even to the Horde. It’s actually what I like of her. Thalyssra got triggered regardless.
The issue I have is not that she speaks blunt to the Horde, it is that her bluntless tends to override her rationality, thinking, etc. I did say she screwed the pooch, but from one as blunt as her, I’d have expected a “alright, we let you in to our home while I confer with Elune, if you screw up, or should I say WHEN you screw up, we will end you then and there”.
That’d go against Blizzard trying to get the Nightborne Horde.
But if Thalyssra was triggered by that, she’d have gone worse if Tyrande threatened her with killing her. Tyrande certainly didn’t care about the Nightborne joining
I don’t understand what you’re trying to claim here. I assume that you’re referring to the War of the Ancients, in which case the elves of Suramar weren’t Nightborne when that took place. Secondly, it was the elves of Suramar that rebelled against Azshara during the first legion invasion that corrupted the Temple of Elune.
Tyrande’s 10,000 year grudge stems from the fact she felt abandoned by Suramar when they erected the shield to keep the pillars of creation, which had been hoarded in Suramar, out of Azshara’s grasp when she betrayed them.
First Arcanist Thalyssra: It would seem “Elune’s wisdom” guided her away from the bond we once shared. So be it.
Are we playing a different game? Thalyssra was pretty chill when recounting Tyrande’s boorish behavior during the insurrection of Suramar. “Triggered,” was what alliance players were when they didn’t get the allied race they were pining for.
Changing your name doesn’t mean you lose any guilt. They were part of Azshara’s forces and to blame of bringing the Legion to Azeroth. Night Elves don’t trust Highborne, especially if the second time they hear from this “Suramar people”, they are again with the Legion.
We definitely are playing a different game if you think that saying this and go to the enemy faction is not being triggered. When you are told to “To wait” and you take this as a no and go like “So be it”, it clearly means she was not happy with the situation.
“Guided us away from the bond we once shared.”
The heck you’re talking about, girl? For the Night Elves, you abandoned them and stood hiding for thousands of years! And the next time we hear from you, your people are with the Legion again!
“But oh, poor Thalyssra, was told to wait. Tyrande broke the bond. Not them. Tyrande.” Definitely not triggered to think that and not see the reasons of Tyrande’s mistrust.
Give me a break
Definitely a race that fits the Horde.
And don’t give me faction player things, I give no f about silly faction pride. If you’re using this as an attack in your arguments, I’ll tank it all day and laugh. Especially when many people here play both factions.
If this is your belief, I actually don’t think we’re playing the same game, because it’s not based on anything the story has expressed.
Firstly, all Night Elves were “part of Azshara’s forces,” and all of them benefited from the magic that built and spread their dominion over Azeroth. Even Malfurion was loyal to Azshara who he admired.
When the elves of Suramar learned that Azshara betrayed her people in a bargain with the demons, they rebelled against her and repelled the legion from opening a portal in Suramar. In the War of the Ancients, there was never a moment where the elves of Suramar sided with the legion like you claim.
They rebelled against Azshara and the Legion. So tell me then, why was Tyrande with grudges, if the people from Suramar were only heroes?
Perhaps is it because they hid the city while everyone else continued fighting? Perhaps because they were still aligned with the Legion prior to rebelling against them?
Her sacrifice was not in vain. Suramar’s residents had been given enough time to hide their city from the Legion and the world, protecting themselves from the Sundering that would follow.
Or was Tyrande’s grudge imaginary? Just… a grudge for hobby?
“Malfurion was loyal and benefited”? Huh? No, there were even disdain from Highborne nobles towards the others. Malfurion was a Druid. Not all Elves exploited magic such as the ones the Highborne were constantly using.
Not only that, these people made deals with demons at the time of the War of the Ancients, which hints they were in tune right before they found out it was a “betrayal”.
I was right about the nightborne here having objects of great power. I found an ancient text referring to such an object called the Orb of Sciallax.
From what I recall in studying the War of the Ancients, Sciallax was a demon lord who came to Suramar and offered the elvesat the time a powerful artifact in return for their servitude to the Legion.
I am not saying hte Nightfallen are evil or whatever, but saying “Tyrande broke the bonds”? Lol, no.
For context, this conversation takes place in Nazjatar:
Shandris Feathermoon says: Here to admire the Highborne’s handiwork, Thalyssra? To look upon all that your hubris has wrought?
Image of Thalyssra says: Shandris. We sealed off Suramar to keep the Pillars of Creation free from Azshara’s grasp. The power she holds with just the Tidestone…
From Tyrande’s perspective, the elves of Suramar hid behind the shield simply for their own safety, which is partially true, but it was also to keep the pillars of creation out of Azshara’s control, which would have made her unstoppable.
For instance, when Azshara learned of Prince Farondis defiance in Azsuna, she broke the Tidestone of Golganneth, destroyed much of Azsuna, and placed a curse of undeath on his people that they still have not broken.
You could say Tyrande was triggered by the events leading up to the War of the Ancients, despite it being a misunderstanding on her part.
Malfurion was described as being loyal to Azshara prior to him noticing the distance the Highborne begun to put between them and the lower class Night Elves. As I stated, all Night Elves benefited from the power of the Well of Eternity which allowed them to spread their dominion over Azeroth. Consider that Illidan in the War of the Ancients, not wanting to lose the power the Well of Eternity offered him, defected to Azshara and warned her that Malfurion intended to destroy the well.
And they served the Legion. It is in the game with archaeologist quests. They served the Legion in exchange for artifacts. You can see that when the Reliquary is investigating the Nightborne’s past.
They served the Legion for power.
And if a Blood Elf knows it, I’m pretty sure a Night Elf who was there also do.
I’d not lump all the Nightborne there for obvious reasons, but it’s reason, added to abandoning the battlefield (they had their reasons), for Tyrande to not trust. Elven Mages do crazy things for power and magic, and this is a common trend in Highborne and Nightborne. And several have lead to fall of empirers (Kaldorei Empire and Dire Maul).
The Highborne received an even colder response from the Night Elves, and that is for a reason. If Thalyssra could not see all this and blamed Tyrande…
Note: I don’t blame Thalyssra exactly, my reasoning here is that the developers did a poor job shoving the AR races to the opposite faction here. But talking outside of that.
Malfurion never served the Legion which is different. I get your point here, but the things he did were different to the things the Nightborne did and had to do.
Theramore was knowingly being used as a staging point for the alliance invasion into the Barrens and that’s why it was attacked.
It was not for no reason. Soldiers were flooding from it and invading Horde land. Theramore could not control Stormwind soldiers, no, but they didn’t even complain and just let it happen. It was a legitimate military target and the assault on it was justified. The mana bomb was a bit much, though. A normal assault would have been fine.
Funny I seem to remember Baine and Vol’Jin meeting at the inn in Razor HIll ( i think - been a while since I read it) and not being on the side of it being ok to attack.
This is actually a fair assessment, if Theramore didn’t want to be drawn into the conflict they needed to remain neutral and not allow the Alliance to use it as a staging area for military operations. Just like how Dazar’alor was a valid military target because they allowed themselves to be the Horde version of “Theramore”.
And when Alliance do anything wrong it’s just fine.
Jaina during the Dalaran purge.
Jaina trying to use giant water elementals to drown innocent women and children orcs in Orgrimmar
Orcs being turned to slaves.
Alliance alienating High Elves that turned to fel addiction after the Sunwell was tainted and they couldn’t feed and were stressed from losing all their family and friends to the scourge.
Genn firing on undead ships without provocation during the Legion cease fire.
The Alliance sacking Zul’dazar and killing the king before they were even affiliated with the Horde.
Burning Vulpera caravans and basically destroying homes and killing families after you invaded their territory.
I could go on, but ya. Nah you Alliance. Lawful good. No favoritism or any moments you made the Horde look like garbage ever…
I did. If only you had reading comprehension you could comprehend the words I spoon fed to you.
It was literally like a bird chewing up the food, digesting and regurgitating it onto your face. Only you failed to gather the sustenance and then complained you were still hungry while the chunks of food lay scattered around your mouth.
Blood Elves never had justice after Jaina’s atrocities.
At the end of the day it’s a game and not genocide.
If you wish to equate an in-game event with the horrors of RL genocide, I suggest we all tally up our murderous WoW careers, hang our heads in shame and apologise to every beast and race we have so thoughtlessly decimated in the name of experience and loot.
And we should hang, draw and quarter Hemet Nessingwary.
