Hello all,
I was watching something not too long ago. Someone was working on a project using a much more advanced graphics engine to build some of the zones in wow.
Two of the places I took a brief glance at were Orgimmar and that forest zone out in Northrend.
There were no npcs, and you couldn’t create a character, but these zones were built using this much more advanced graphics engine.
It was very interesting to see.
So my question is just this. Considering all the money we as players have given to Blizzard over the years, should Blizzard reupdate (gradually) but continuously all the zones in wow using a much more advanced graphics engine?
Thanks for your time.
WoW as it stands uses enough resources. I couldn’t imagine how much more taxing they could make it.
Oh to correct one thing.
I saw Durator redone in this graphics engine, not necessarily Orgimmar, but I think I saw the city gates.
No its does not need to be redone. Redoing wow for graphics would requier them to rebuild the entire game and basically start wow 2. Also worth a note that one of the major reasons wow has been as much of a sucess as it has been is the low barrier of entry for required hardware.
If you go into the way back machine, a major reason that most mmos that were gonna be “wow killers” failed was because their graphics requirements were much higher.
Its with Unreal engine. I havent played a game on Unreal that felt as smooth as wow. They always feel clunky. Wows graphics at max isnt bad. People confuse artistic choice with graphical ability. The primary reason WoW needs an engine update is hardware utilization optimization. If you get rid of the WoW style, you get rid of WoW.
Yes,
I think that is right. I think I saw these graphical zones where someone used Unreal Engine 4?
