Just wonder if we can get transfer to Classic Era option when Anniversary servers progress into TBC

I am a diehard WoW Vanilla purist and not interested in playing TBC. I played Anniversary because of its current popularity and ongoing progression in the phases.

However, I wonder if Blizzard will provide transfer service to Era when Anniversary servers progress into TBC for us Vanilla enjoyers? Should not be much of a technical issue for them.

I’m hoping this becomes a thing for you guys. Not a fan of losing progress so to speak so if everyone was forced into TBC with no option to transfer to existing era realms I can see quite a few folks being pretty upset.

I want TBC but the current pace of Vanilla servers has me worried for TBC enjoyment. I already did a character on … I forgot which server. Whitemane Cluster, last night on Era. There were players.

Ill stick around a bit on Anniversary but if there’s no message from Blizzard I might end up giving up on it. I just care for TBC then Vanilla. Wrath is not my thing.

then you wouldn’t be playing shamiversary with doll speck… :expressionless:

there have been zero announcements of classic era transfers so don’t count on it

I see no reason for anniversary changes not to go to era and allow people to go there. I also hope TBC and wrath get era servers

Maybe they like progressing along with the player base through the content from MC to Naxxramas and not joining a player base that is already fully kitted out in T3?

uh, era does not need doll speck, bud :expressionless:

that’s nice. that doesn’t mean they get to transfer to classic era though :expressionless: if you want classic era characters, level on classic era.

Why not. There’s nothing bad about it

Many groups on era do exactly this. The OP just wanted an easier time leveling and gearing with dual spec. This type of transfer would diminish the effort of those on Era that had to level and gear without dual spec.

I got to 60 off mage boosts in classic and just pressed reck to get an atiesh. Nothing was easier than old 2019 classic leveling/gearing. Duel spec doesn’t change any of that. Only real difference is that Annie players would have pvp gear kinda for free.

Yes it does. Dual spec fundamentally offers the gameplay of Classic. To suggest otherwise is simply idiotic.

Add that onto the list of why you will not get those transfers.

Having more than 500 pop limit to a server is a major fundamental change to classic. You do remember that og vanilla had a 500 current player hard cap. This alone bricked peoples raid nights on higher pop servers. There were also 0 battle groups for pvp. Those came in 1.10. era had lots of changes.

I’d argue offering a service that could very well bolster era’s population is a good thing. The only reason I have to think that these transfers won’t happen is because I haven’t really made up my mind precisely how Blizzard would approach the matter of dual-specialization.

They would either have to make it available to the era player base as a whole which is something I imagine they clearly don’t want, regardless of how optional it is. Or they would have to take it away from those on Anniversary who have dual-specialization who would transfer to era servers. Yes, 10g is a trifling amount but you’re only kidding yourself if you think for a second that that would in any way matter to those losing that option.

Either way, one group or the other would be up in arms.

I suppose the other alternative is of course to force everyone on Anniversary servers into TBC. I imagine some would simply return to characters they either already have on era or perhaps start fresh on era. Easy to imagine just as many would possibly wipe their hands clean of WoW altogether. Time will tell.

Edit: Also just considered the possibility that those who are hoping they might be able to transfer to era servers might be perfectly fine with forfeiting dual-specialization if that was what was required. They could very well see dual-specialization as a means to an end while on Anniversary but no longer needed were they able to transfer. People are peculiar.

Nah. Era players will belittle anniversary players then ask players on the forums to please q BGs. It’s the weirdest form of gatekeeping I’ve ever seen tbh.

actually there is :expressionless: and that’s why blizzard made sure era didn’t get it. they’re not adding it now. hth

era doesn’t need any more people :expressionless: we’re doing just fine thanks. we certainly don’t need more people who would demand stupid things like doll speck

this is what should happen :expressionless:

You don’t see a larger population as a bit more assurance against the possibility Blizzard may eventually decide to shut them down because they no longer see the point in keeping them open for so few people relative to the overall player base of WoW as a whole?

I personally wouldn’t want to take that gamble but you do you.

classic era is in no danger of shutting down :expressionless: they need it up so they can claim ownership of the software, otherwise private server types can claim it is “abandonware”.
