I’m fishing in the Isle of Dorn when I see a level 74 engage a “!” quest mob and die in 2 seconds. They might have been terrible or really undergeared, but the way their health dropped, I don’t know what they could have done.
Anyway, I think this scaling rework might need some tuning.

This happened to me when i was cruising around and saw a rare spawned near where we originally crashed onto the isle. So, i drop down thinking,
“Heh im in prepatch gear, this will be an easy loot grab.”
3-4 seconds later Im at the spirit graveyard. IDK what hit me i didnʻt see anything just the guy said something villiany and then i was dead.
I killed a 80 with my 71 in like 5 seconds.
Gear matters.

You sure it wasn’t a Rare? I ran past one and immediately engaged, turns out it was Level 80 and I was dead.
A lot of people aren’t nearly as good as they like to think they are. Average is a very low bar.

Could have done the stupid thing that I did. I boosted this warrior.
Then forgot to put on the new armor that came with the boost before heading out
to level.
Mighta been one of those big boy elite rares 
Some mobs don’t scale for whatever reason. There’s some elite bees that are 80 on the island even when you’re a lowbie.
The tuning is just fine, players are just bad
I’ll take things that didn’t happen for $100 please.

I’ve definitely been smacked by a lvl 80 rare because I didn’t look at the level and I was in s4 quest greens. But for it to be a quest boss, you got to be really undergeared.
Must’ve not been wearing gear at all. Level 70s are still doing double the damage of other players in dungeons, if they know how to press a few buttons ofc.
Not really, this isn’t MoP where the leveling rares had mechanics that absolutely would one shot you in quest/dungeon gear. These are kinda “don’t stand in it, long.”
The more I think about it the more I think that MoP was just the best balanced and best tuned xpac.
