People back when Dire Maul was releasing were split like they are now with BGs being pushed early, so I just wanna go ahead and say, called it. This isn’t about whether you are pro or anti quick release, it’s about seeing patterns in behavior.
I mean, I don’t see why it’s a problem.
If people are maxing out, and running out of things to do, due to classic being extremely well known, and limited in scope, if blizzard wants people to hang around, they will keep the content up as long as they can.
Because when people decide they quit, releasing a new phase is no certainty that they will decided to come back for it.
letting people drop off would be bad, would it not?
It is a problem. It is also not a problem. There is no right or wrong answer to this question, only what individuals prefer.
Personally, I think the populations are way too high, so some drop off would be a good thing in my eyes.
Why would you want less people to play with though?
Maybe I just view it different because I’m on an RP server, but more people generally is a good thing.
naxx by june, quote me if wrong
I overheard someone say that patches were typically in 3 month turn arounds. With the release they added extra month for leveling.
TBC in Aug plz!!!
Hmm, feel like there is a point where you have enough people to play with. Go past that, and it is too much, the game systems start breaking down. We can see that in the game world around us right now already. Very little in the way of natural resources available. Thorium mined out, black lotus all gone, arcane crystal prices sky high to the point where things that used to get made commonly in vanilla as a go between are skipped because it’s too expensive.
I don’t want too few either, it’s a delicate balance to maintain. But, for me, right now we are far, far above healthy server pops.
I guess we will see. Though I don’t see a problem with Naxx being released by June personally.
I know a few people that don’t want to play classic until all the phases are over. Anecdotal sure.
But I don’t see why having all the phases out would be a bad thing. People were complaining that Rag/Onyxia was kinda a push over. I imagine BWL will be significantly harder and take more time no?
time proved that Activation/Blizzard can’t be trusted, so i won’t be surprised if they announce in next blizzcon that TBC coming on classic servers.
None of these things have been released early. IF you “called it” then you called it poorly.
oh I don’t have a stance on whether it’s a good or a bad thing. That’s just my prediction with how things are going right now.
Aye, we’ll see by june if Naxx is out.
The question then will be how long will it take for someone to clear it?
I don’t think so really. I don’t think even pug groups will hit any roadbumps till twin emps/Cthun.
Good guilds probably won’t really hit any sticking points till 4 horseman when they straight don’t have enough geared tanks yet.
Wasn’t there that dragon that’s the second boss of BWL, that just auto kills people faster and faster and you only have a limited number of tries to kill him? Figured he’d be a literal roadblock for people thinking they are gonna walk over stuff like they did Onyxia / MC
day of release it’ll be cleared. Same with BWL and AQ. those releases aren’t like MC, there’s no leveling grind to rush through. The raids themselves are easy enough and people have been doing them for 15 years on uh…the things we dont talk about
really? People keep telling me original vanilla naxx was extremely hard.
combination of lack of knowledge about the game and the actual slog of a time commitment you need to be willing to put forth in order to actually raid it. Numerically it’s somewhat taxing but nowhere near the difficulty of even Cataclysm heroic raids, mechanically.
Vaelestraz yeah. He was originally a gear check. But with 1.12 item overhauls and talents, I think hes gonna go down hard. We have pug groups dropping rag before submerge pretty easily. With that level of dps, nothing in BWL should be much either. Maybe just a matter of getting people the Ony Capes, a few wipes on Razergore for the Mindcontroller to learn how that works.
If you look at what they have actually released “early” thus far, according to phases, it includes Dire Maul (ahead of phase 2), and AV/WSG (ahead of phase 3). I guess you could also include Maraudon but nobody cares about that.
Their original estimates of release windows were never set in stone, and they are simply dripping out more gradually the content slated for the phases.
Dire Maul and Battlegrounds are some of the best content vanilla had, and one of the biggest reasons people played the game. I know many people whose favourite endgame dungeons were the DM ones, and I know many more people whose primary endgame activity is enjoying battlegrounds.
So it kind of makes sense that they’re releasing content in this manner. There is a demand for it. I do agree though, that the content releases are much more rapid than vanilla, and that there are many people who would like it to be slower. The difference is that in Vanilla, we had no idea what would be coming next. We were playing the game very differently than we play it now (for probably majority of players).
Thing is, those players who play classic the same way many people played vanilla, don’t actually have to adjust the way they play based on the content. They can continue to play at the pace they want to play at, and still enjoy the game the same. Those players need to stop asking “what if”, and just enjoy the journey.
TLDR: I do hope that the raid content is released much more slowly, and so far so good… But imo, no reason to hold back the honor system/bgs, as that’s why many of us play the game.
