Just Resubbed, Tips for going for Loremaster?

Just resubbed, always wanted to do loremaster / every quest in wow and figured nows the time to do it. Do you guys have any tips? I heard some of the zones are extremely hard to complete on level like shadowmoon valley in TBC?

Cheers and Thanks for the advice!

I’ve leveled while doing Loremaster before, you should have no issues challenge wise depending on the class and if you have heirlooms.

Personally if I had to choose between doing it on level or at max level, id go max level. Loremaster on level will take you quite sometime.

I’m going to be working on all the things too while i level so ill get those other quest rewards that aren’t included in the ā€œzone chaptersā€, doing all of this on a human warrior btw.

Just get it bro.

Take your time and do it little by little. Because you’ll be getting sick of it real fast.

Hey Jontrann,

Another player working towards Loremaster here, with decent progress so far.

My advice;

  • Go for a zone at a time. Progress through a region rather than jumping between expansions.

  • Absorb the context of the expansion, I wouldn’t necessarily focus on current content while doing it. On this character I only did 8.3 weeklies while doing Draenor and Legion Loremaster.

  • Complete it on a character you feel an attachment and one you have a ā€˜personal lore’ about (if you like to roleplay
    that way ).

  • Tying into the story, ā€˜Immersion’ is a great addon. It makes the dialogue part of NPC interactions feel more impactful. You might find yourself more interested in the story of a region compared to just the text dialogue we often have.

Yeah i always wanted to complete the loremaster and explorer titles on a toon but never got around to doing it, so after doing some research it seems like its best done on a warrior since they unlock all weapon transmogs. This is going to be my completionist toon were i aim for all the things / achievements / titles, etc.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

I don’t want to discourage you… I really don’t.

But Loremaster is quite the undertaking. It’s tougher than it looks and it burns you fast if done incorrectly.

All the suggestions here are not bad, and at the end of the day you choose how to do it.

However, might I point out a few things:

  • It can become overwhelming and tedious very fast.

  • It requires dedication, as such it is not the best idea to attempt it while also doing other things. The distractions don’t help you keep a rhythm of questing and clearing the zones in a single map. And this is essential.

  • If you try to do them at level (HIGHLY not recommended), you will hit constant walls, between needing a group for elites, taking time to travel (if you can’t fly yet), pulling extra mobs along the way and killing them slowly, etc. All this adds quickly to burn.

  • Take one zone at a time. Don’t leave the game with a zone mid-completion. Don’t jump between continents/expansions.

  • Have wowhead opened on a window at all times. Even reading text, sometimes going to wowhead straight can save you A LOT OF TIME.

  • As soon as you feel desperation for wanting to finish a long quest line, stop and go play on another character or do something else. This will prevent burn-out and allow you to enjoy the journey. Because it is a long one.

  • Control the detours. If you want to also do those few extra quest in the zone, be wary… there are many rabbit holes and all the sudden 4 hours later for no reason you can explain you are running Sunken Temple for some weird transmog that isn’t dropping. Believe me, it happens.

Best of luck!!!

EDIT:
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO TURN WARMODE OFF.

I got it a few months ago, and I did it while mostly leveling alts. Still, there were a few zones I missed and had to go back for, and some of them are really very difficult at level, like Shadowmoon Valley and Blade’s Edge Mountains.
If you want to make it fast, I highly recommend getting WoWPro and following the guide for the zone, as it takes you through the story of the zone efficiently.

Yeah I would say…

Outland
Shadowmoon Valley
Blade’s Edge Mountains
Netherstorm (there’s a lot of flying around)

Northrend
Icecrown
Zul’Drak << This guy especially since I think you gotta do the Blood Arena questline.

Kalimdor
Feralas
Desolace
Felwood
Stonetalon Mountains

Eastern Kingdoms
Swamp of Sorrows

Cataclysm
Vashj’ir
Uldum

Pandaria
Dread Wastes

Those are the most… challenging ones that really test your patience.

Then there is literally the ENTIRE Draenor. That in an of itself is quite the task. It takes a lot of preparation as it is deeply tied to Garrisons.

After that it’s freebies honestly. Legion and BfA are super easy to complete.

Wow thanks for this.

Shadowmoon Valley and Area 52 have some pretty rough elite group quests in their story lines. I suggest doing these during daytime hours and asking regularly in your general chat for help with them should you need it… people will always be floating around Tempest Keep & Black Temple. Ooh, same applies to Icecrown, there’s some pretty nasty elite dudes there for the level too. Best of luck!

Get the addon immersion https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/immersion It will make reading the quests so much more enjoyable which will make it more fun. Don’t do loremaster just as a thing to check of boxes, take on one area at a time zone by zone. Pick a zone and treat it like a book sort of. Take the time to read the texts, and get into the story. I promise it will be a lot less tedious that way. Currently working on my 6th round of loremaster (yes, I’m perhaps a bit insane)

Yeah i think im going to change my plan up some because i do remember there being some quests you cannot solo on level without being say a hunter like the ring of blood and zul drak arena chains.

Going to complete a few zones per expansion on the way to 120 then go back and complete the loremaster/explorer achievements.

Everybody is leveling alts now, I managed perfectly on those BC places by asking on general chat if others were around that were on that quest.

Having returned to WoW in during 7.3.5 on a brand new account. I too wanted the Loremaster achievement. Took me a while to get but wanting that Loremaster title kept me motivated.

I levelled to 110 first, then went back to complete all the zones. Azeroth through Pandaria was relatively painless, but once I got to Draenor and Legion, not having the ability to fly yet in those expansions really ground things to a halt and found myself taking many more breaks to get through those zones.

Blizzard is removing the restrictions on flying for Draenor and Legion in the next expansion so I’d focus on completing Azeroth - Pandaria, plus BFA saving Draenor and Legion for last.

Most importantly, have fun with it. I enjoyed getting Loremaster so much that I set out to get 100 exalted reps next. Currently at 93, so that’s something else for you to consider if Loremaster hasn’t broken you by the time you finish.

Good luck!

Damn, you sound like me, i also want to get max reps, all the transmogs and mounts which is one of my later goals after loremaster/explorer.

Normally I just lurk these days but your post struck a chord with me. I did it on a warrior as well after returning to WoW and had a blast.

In hindsight, Loremaster is a cakewalk compared to 100 Exalted reps. Ravenholdt with a warrior still gives me nightmares.

Cheers, mate!

I gotta question for you guys, since u say its better to go back and do zones at higher levels do you think its better to stay at 111 for legion legendaries to make kills quicker/speedier?

If you just want to find out more about the story and experience the zone music/atmosphere then you’ll enjoy the experience. Take it zone by zone, and don’t rush through it. I did loremaster all the way back in 2012 so it wasn’t as massive of an undertaking as it is now, but I still recall enjoying the experience when I got to learn what the story is about. I’m still considering doing a re-run of Loremaster with a Horde character, but I can’t find the motivation to do it just yet lmao

I’d recommend doing it at max level (120) as well so that you can run through the dungeons/raids if you want to experience the dungeon quests as well. I think BC and Legion have a number of dungeon quests.

Also look up quest addons so that it’ll be easier to find any quests you may have missed. Especially when it comes to BC zones.

Leave BC for last.
It’s the absolute worst, if you start on BC you’ll hate the achievement before you even finish it.
