Just lost my 60 mage to DC/DDOS style issue

Died on a road out of combat. So, unless blizzard can learn from this massive mistake in progress, I decided to move on from HC unless Sedare is restored.

Since Im not a streamer, I dont expect anything. So I have uninstalled this game until I get a restoral email. I dont have desire to relevel for the 17th time.

Blizzard is selling a service they cant provide. I dont value this mode now.

I really think there is no solution to this. Shame on Blizzard for leading the playerbase on into thinking this is a stable server worth investing in.

There wasn’t even a DDOS just now. Skill issue.

Because Blizzard opened that door, regardless of if it’s a DDoS or not, people are going to claim as such because said people will try to weasel any way they can.

Well over a month ago he said “I will never pay for this service again” and clearly he re-upped. So temper tantrum aside he will come crawling back.

It’s different when Blizzard literally says it in the client—like “DDoS attacks are in progress”—after a bunch of people get disconnected or die in-game. That’s them owning it, admitting there’s an issue. But when it’s just one guy who disconnects or dies, and there’s no message in the client, no official word from Blizzard—it doesn’t feel like a confirmed DDoS, just a random disconnect or user-side problem.

But really blizzard has the ability to know what actually happened on their end so they could check every case or have a service to deal with such things

you can schizo out all day if you want, there was no ddos just now. enjoy your vacation until you inevitably download again

There hasn’t been any DDOS today. You died to a regular o’l disconnect.

Blizzard isn’t gonna do anything about those. I strongly doubt they’re gonna do anything about ANY of the new DDOS issues since Only Fangs stopped playing, but they are definitely not gonna do anything about a regular o’l DC death.

based on these responses by arrogant players… it justifies my position.

F you this game is dead.

You signed the waiver. If you didn’t want to accept the terms of the game mode then don’t bother playing.

Sorry it happened to you. I wish there was some form of DDoS protection on the servers, and that nu-Blizzard cared about the mode as much as some of the love the players do.

Don’t get it wrong: this isn’t Blizzard’s doing. Blizzard died almost 2 decades ago. ActivisionBlizzard is the ones who manage the game and they see it as an already-made machine. The final product that someone else made that they purchased and now it makes money for them. And as long as it’s printing money, they don’t mess with it.

ActivisionBlizzard doesn’t care about the regular players. WoW veterans are so used to it that they don’t care how they’re treated. The most “transient” people who try WoW for a bit, find it fun, but then get affected by all the BS, then cancel sub and leave. The best thing to do is appreciate the fun you had, but realize it’s not gonna get better and just move on. I wish it wasn’t this way but unfortunately it is. I played Overwatch religiously until 2019, then tried Overwatch 2 when it came out and can’t stand how the talented works of passionate developers can be ruined by the slimy hands of corporate management. It’s no different when coming to WoW. nu-Blizzard is pozzed to the core.

Many others who’ve died to these ridiculously unfair outages have moved onto other games that the massive videogame industry provides. Believe me, I’ll be right behind you when I end up winning the DDoS lottery and losing my main as well.

Sadly not many have your insight.

I already moved on. Im finally digging thru all the steam games I ignored. mostly The Long Dark and Elite Dangerous again.

Blizzard has no capacity do manage this now.

They are arrogant to even offer HC in their current meta, and honestly, Im glad im not alone in this dis-enfranchis-izion. I dont know how to express that differently. Im disenfranchised from this game, and I feel I became collateral damage now. Now ignored.

Thank you for the kind reply. I must say that Hardcore WoW is the healthiest community in any MMO I have ever played in. For that reason alone, I will miss this deeply.

Shame on Blizzard.

edit For what its worth, DAOC was my first game, and that game died 8 years ago. In my mind, these were the 2 foundational MMORPGs, and they are both officially dead.

For the first time in 25 years… I have no clue what to play because everything sucks now.

the difference between a DDOS and a “regular DC” is actually pretty vague and blurry :expressionless: people have every right to expect revives at every little server glitch now. blizzard opened that door.

funny how the “waiver” was changed for streamers tho :expressionless:

they have all the information needed to make proper judgement on character revieve

Based. I’ve got the trophy on Playstation 4 for hitting 500 days survived (on Trailblazer, the easiest difficulty) and I’ve been trying to survive past a week on Interloper, but this was a few months ago.

As far as other permadeath games go, over the past several years I’ve played Ghost Recon Wildlands Ghost Mode, Division 2 Hardcore mode, RuneScape Hardcore Ironman, Project Zomboid, Minecraft Hardcore, Pillars of Eternity Iron mode, No Man’s Sky hardcore, and waaaay more. Even the ones that are online-only are handled leagues better than how Hardcore WoW is handled. I’ve expressed it many times, but I’ve already perma-quit the game once, and only came back for my guild and the server. Once we decay enough (and we’re trending in that direction) I’ll be gone for good, unfortunately.

I don’t play the game in any other mode and I’ve invested too much where I am to start again on another server, just for it to succumb to the same fate as the OG Hardcore servers.

The community is the only reason I play. WoW Classic isn’t really fun for me. Too much bloat and grinding to get to the point of the game (ironic, since I do enjoy RuneScape, for different reasons). However, coming from Playstation, WoW Hardcore is by far the most social and positive community once you’re in the actual game itself. But I don’t want to play a game that’s managed by a developer who couldn’t care less and chained down by elitists who are ok with the game existing in mediocrity.

And this right here is exactly why I didn’t want them to revive them either. Because now people feel entitled to have the rules changed just for them when they died to a disconnect which is something we’ve known since hardcore began is a possibility that can happen to a character and that we’ve been playing this entire time with the understanding would be a permanent death.

Where do the exceptions end? How many other reasons are people going to start whining about to be revived for?

Blizzard made it really clear that what they did for the streamers was a one time thing and that they wouldn’t be doing it again except in case of another extreme situation of a ton of players dying at once to a mass DDOS attack. What the OP is whining about isn’t one of those. So there’s no ground here to stand on other than he wants brand new special treatment. It’s not gonna happen.

when blizzard looks into it for op they will see it wasn’t to an issues on server side BOOM, no Rez.

What actual difference does it make between a server wipe and just a small group of people dying? Clearly people aren’t fond of the rules in place. Blizzard’s “you guys don’t know what you actually want” mindset was applied to their policy that, surprise, almost everyone doesn’t agree with either. Besides people like you quoting it when they get lucky enough to avoid server-related deaths that others are affected by. Then using the policy as a justification to pull up the ladder from those who died by simply playing the game and making no mistakes whatsoever.

You don’t understand what kind of can of worms this opens if Blizzard starts reviving people for DC deaths.

You’ll have people ALT F4ing the second a pull goes bad and then requesting revives because they “dc’d.”

Blizzard would have to implement a detailed reviewing system to make sure that any legitimate deaths are not being revived. Which would require them investing a LOT more resources into hardcore than they are ever going to. They are never going to implement a reviewing system like that because it costs money and they are not going to invest additional money into a game mode that is a lot less profitable than the micro transaction filled mess that is retail WoW.

So that’s the longer answer. What you want requires Blizzard to invest a lot more money into the game to monitor each death to make sure that no one is abusing the theoretical revival system you want implemented. They are not going to do that. They are not going to review every individual death.

What they did for DDOS attacks was much simpler. They simply identified an attack on the server, set a specificed time window for when the attack was happening and revived EVERYONE that died in that window. It was much easier than reviewing each case one by one. They might do a mass revive for a DDOS attack again (I doubt they will since the Streamers arent playing anymore, but they might) they are NOT going to review every single death that happens to see whether it was a server disconnect or an actual gameplay fail.

They are not going to do that. You can ask for it all you want but it just isn’t going to happen.
