Just lost a fortune thanks to trading post

I think a lot of people seem to miss that part.
When I paid for WoW, do I own the account? The answer is “no”.
I paid for a license to get to play the game, and now paying rent to keep playing.
The license is under my name and I am responsible for it, but is ultimately owned by Blizzard.

And they are not even a legit collector either…just 200 pets in their stable and hasn’t even learned one of those Spectral cubs in the stable either…I called that out early on but nobody seemed to see that now they are arguing with a non collector…

Yes, I noticed, but I wonder if they’re now trying to sell all 3 now that they heard the news and then buy it back from trading post? Otherwise it’s a good point, based on how many replies and comments that made sense to me they sent, it looked like a serious post, I have a hard time seeing a troll reply to so many comments like if the situation was true.

Also, you have a handful of tcg mounts, including the most expensive, what’s your take on them being re-released, and how\when did you end up getting them?

Also a good point, if you get perma banned it has no value, if the game ends it has no value.

I know you didn’t ask me but I have all but one and I don’t care if they’re all re-released.

Mixture of physical TCG cards and WoD.

Unfortunately I likely have autism and am an all or nothing person, so I focus 100% on few things and do them completely and am useless at other things, so not having much IRL, in game disappointments are worse, and it’s harder to fall back to something else (quit for example) than it would be for someone who’s 50% focused on game and 50% real, for example.

Yes, I do like that too IRL (only stuff I need), I still have an old gpu with a few issues that is probably worth 100 euro and not replacing it till it breaks.

I just go for what could be called luxury (like tcg mounts back when I did) in game, and the only reason I started considering them is cause I didn’t have any other things to spend gold on.

You just have to apply what you do irl to gaming. Because you honestly can live without the stuff, and as you’ve seen, patience pays off. The ones who don’t buy for that huge amount win in the end.

Ah, unusual take, just like the warlock I and the rogue were arguing with.

While unusual, there’s nothing wrong with thinking that, though I wonder, is there anything that would upset you about buying stuff that has never been given away before and then all of a sudden they did and your time\effort\gold has been for naught?

Say you buy the spider for 2 mil, the month after: the spider is now at the trading post!

Na the fool is the one who pays that kind of price for something given away.

“Hindsight is 20/20.”
So the saying goes.

Well, if a player started playing in 2023 they never got the chance to get it from giveaways happened in 2022!

That’s like saying “Guess who has 3 NFTs?”, it’s artificial scarcity. Better invest in Gold or the S&P500 or whatever :man_shrugging:t2:

However this sets a precedent, doesn’t it? That if something takes too much time or effort you’re better off waiting for it to be nerfed, rather than farming, see gold for tcg mounts and see the super drop rate nerf for the world bosses, from 1 in 2k to 1 in 100, which only happened 7-10 years later?

Why would you pay that kind of gold for something that has become ‘common’… Keep trying dude. Like I said a fool and his gold.

That’s with a lot of things in life. That’s why the old sayings about patience being a virtue, and good things come to those who wait exist.

My Spirit of Competition pet is rarer than Spectral Tiger Cub because you can’t just go out and drop money to buy it. It was from a one time limited event over a decade ago and cannot be gained via any other means whatsoever.

Guess what goes on the Trading Post in August.

Guess how much I care.

As for empathy for those who got screwed by this, I see it two ways:

If someone bought it because they thought it was rare AND cool, then sure I can sympathize.

But if they ONLY bought it because it was rare and they mostly wanted to resell/flex on others with it, then I have no sympathy for those people.

I have the 5 mil (in BFA) bruto mount. Would it annoy me if it appeared on the post for 900 tenders? Yeah it kind of would. Would it annoy me if it cost like 5000 tender and people would have to save tenders for a while before they could get it? Then I wouldn’t be annoyed at all.

But would it upset me if it did actually appear for 900 tenders? I’d roll my eyes, ngl, but I wouldn’t begrudge people now getting it basically "for free " because the mount has served me well since BFA and I was at the right place at the right time, but everyone should have the chance to get such an awesome and convenient mount despite my own personal feelings about it.
