Well, one reason why.
given the blatant and many crossovers where cloth looks just like plate and vice versa, the restrictions seem ridiculous and controlling at this point.
It’s in the name. Scourge-stalker.
The gas mask and everything is so you can wade through the Scourge and not get infected.
Hunter sets have a theme, Giantstalker, Dragonstalker, Riftstalker, Gronnstalker, etc.
I played a hunter back then, it was one of my favorite sets.
Not everything ‘death-themed’ with skulls on it should automatically go to DKs.
eh…I can make a set with a gasmask that looks like hunter or shaman lol.

Funnily enough, before we even got DKs, the trailer showed us one in recolored Hunter armor.
Look at 2:10, when he stands up, and what he’s wearing.
It’s a blue recolor of the Demon Stalker set, a TBC hunter set.
It’s been over a decade later, I’d still like to see that blue recolor in the game, eventually.
its a really great set. just feels wasted on my hunters and shamans.
Killer set for DK though.
It’s not fully wasted if you’re willing to make characters around the transmog, which is what I usually do, lol.

Hunters have an identity crisis, namely that we mostly seem like we SHOULD be wearing leather… or maybe cloth? Chain mail makes zero sense for a Hunter fictional or otherwise. For one thing, that stuff is expensive, where am I buying this stuff and with what given the Hunter class fantasy is basically wilderness survival?
Seems a bit noisy and heavy for someone who’s stalking animals.
But then, the only reason I can think of a hunter with a bomb is cheating while fishing, lol
I’d say mail armor in general feels a little out of place in WoW. Evoker may be the first class where having mail armor might make sense.
Shaman, electric blasts with what might be metal mail armor, lol. What could possibly go wrong .
