Just how good were shadow priests in classic

^ Title specifically wondering about just HOW GOOD they could melt face…(in pvp In case that wasn’t obvious)?

They melted face pretty decently. Dispel is a very strong ability in vanilla, which they have access to. They can always heal, which is strong. Those two things right there already provide quite a lot. And the joy of MCing someone off of LM in AB. There are no goblin gliders. They might be spamming nogginfogger to try and live.

You have a very good position against certain classes… like mage. I remember because I was a mage in vanilla.

Good enough to gain the reputation of MELTING FACES…

Contrary to what you may read in the forums, they are very good in PVP, and most raids will make room for a single shadow priest…

Given that you do not need 15 healers in a single raid and typically 5 priests is all you will bring due to class distribution 1 shadow priest is 20% class representation, and that’s good.

Don’t worry over your build selection too much, just master that and promote your skill to the guild who will use your awesomeness to conquer the content.

good shadow priests only lose to fire mages in post AQ gear and succubus locks.

They were feared and for good reason. Especially dwarf and undead shadow priests. Stone form and Fear ward or WoTF and Devouring Plague…/shudder.

It’s pretty much the one class without a hard counter, even heavily geared MS warriors didn’t like facing them. I avoided SP’s like the plague as a Hunter.

Vanilla Shadow was a totally different animal; they were made of solid granite and PAIN!

It’s insane how well those things lined up. Easily one of my favorite videos on YouTube.

As for SPriests, they are just broken in 1v1. Plus, Mind Control in general to abuse when leveling against not just players, but NPCs.

My level 40 Troll Priest soloed all of the elite Stromgarde quests in Arathi just mind controlling. It was dumb. Arathor Vindicators do like 800 dmg a swing and can enrage.

Good against everyone except warlocks.

Shadow Priests were very strong in PvP scenarios, generally speaking. They had high rates of mana consumption, but they dealt a ton of damage… They could also Mana Burn healers/other casters/hunters… At least for Undead, sometimes they would DoT you and then Mind Control you to keep you from fighting back and your HP would disappear… If I remember correctly, could have been pre-release, you could also Mind Control your opponent, have them get killed by guards, and the mind controlled player would take durability damage…

You will melt faces as a shadow priest in PvP.

It’s not just that they are good in pvp, but that they are the only class in vanilla that comes close to faceroll tier.

Edit: SL warlocks are up there as well.

Warriors with a Shaman ate SP for breakfast. I will match you a War/Sham vs any other pair for vanilla. Big Axe Windfury crits will own the battlegrounds again!

They were really good!.. for about a minute. Then they ran out of mana and were terrible.

Spriests are a very solid pvp spec. You will melt face.

Never faced a shaman in vanilla.

Don’t plan to in classic either.

A good shaman that’s not alone in general is a pretty unwinnable scenario for most enemy combinations.

LOL at these posts talking about how Uber a team of TWO players is against a solo priest. Sign me up.

Shadow Priests will create a lot of salt in PVP.

They are not flashy or bursty, they just burn your soul away and cackle at your inability to stop them.
