Just had 2 bad experiences and no other (low lvl) BG matches in hours, am I missing something? Returned today

Basically what the title states. I have always played at night and didn’t have issues getting BG’s to pop in any bracket that I can recall. Last I played was 2019 for random BG’s. I don’t have Dragonflight expac yet, but I am subbed.

I got 1 match to pop for my lvl 16, where we all got demolished by a single shaman to a degree I have never experienced in my entire time in wow. Not fun. Someone in chat said it was a shaman bug but I am not up to date on that actually being a possibility.

No matches for my level 52 at all. A total of 2 hrs waiting between the two characters, for 1 match.

So now, my handful of questions… Do I have to buy dragonflight or something to get something to pop? I would if I had to, because I want to return for BG’s. That is what I like. Is there something wrong with the lower level ques lately? As I don’t remember ever “not getting a match at all” queing as heals in any particular bracket before. And if anyone may know this, What’s with the shaman “bug” as someone called it during my single unfortunate lowbie match where we all got oneshot the whole time? And lastly, are the que times consistent around max level?

I just wanted to do some half decent BG’s.

Edit: just got a que for seething shore after about 40 minutes, on the lvl 52 toon. had no one against us so we just mined azerite, and after getting to 600 v 0 it booted us without warning and I went automatically back into que. (without warning as far as i can tell, as i am still adjusting to the new interface, it seemed without warning at all)… Super fun second match of this night, too… If it did have a warning that we were about to be booted, it probably should have just said “HAHA” /sigh

I think I’ll just go play Street Fighter 6

Dudette and yes I work 2nd shift, play at night. I stated specifically I have always played at night, started trying to que around midnight or something today specially. Either way, I just never had only 1 match after hours on any night, in the past. Or the shaman overkill. But I did ask if it is better in max bracket, and I asked about the imbalance, other than my annoyance I did have inquiries on it. I play at night so if I want to do BGs and they aren’t frequent at night anymore even at max I’d be bummed but I’d move on.

This is the lame stuff that makes players stop queuing for lower level bgs.

Bg queues do pop at max level. After a couple of minutes.

Since it was my first day back, I did compare my gear lvl/stats to my other mates at the start of that battleground match and it was pretty much in the middle since I did the gear up thing they are doing right now where you “immediately re-equip with a full set of level appropriate gear” which are similar to the heirlooms anyway but I decided to try it out. And then along with the level scaling to level 19, however that really works out I don’t remember, I was like “ok this will be alright!” Especially considering in some xpacs/patches back then, I’d be lower in stats and level and feel alright anyway to do a decent match.

Was going fine, carried two mine carts to home, but awhile in I met the shaman and then seemed to meet him after every respawn. 6 or so pretty quick 1-2 shot deaths in I’m apologizing to my team like “damn just got back didn’t realize this gear/my level was this bad” which didn’t make sense really since it should be pretty fresh as a current promo thing. but I still never had that happen before so I just figured. Then they were just like… nah it’s the shaman bug.

That did not make me feel better lol.

Then my other match of the night started but didn’t have enough players so I was bummed.

It’s a “late night” for me so I’m still up and have a current que of almost an hour on the level 52 priest. But from what you said that’s normal.

Primarily, the whole thing was a stark contrast of what I remember of my last bg nights years before. Some OPed craziness would happen sometimes, (hunters, grr!) but I would at least get the opportunity for more balanced matches in-between due to many more popping through the night. I guess I just had my nostalgia bubble busted a bit.

I think I will try another night to see how the queues/matches are for a second night’s round before I invest in Dragonflight entirely and try to learn more about what DF’s BG’s are like. I want to do other content too! but really BG’s have always been my favorite time killer back then and idk, I usually leveled with bg’s even and I just don’t want my nostalgia ruined all the way (QQ) I’ll give it a bit more time. (Yes this was Lotus story time due to me personally killing time waiting for a ride and not getting any BG matches lol)

IMO, you’ll have a better bg experience at max level.

Lower level bgs are plagued with lame stuff, including max level players who party sync down to lower levels to roflstomp levelers.

@holycow I see. I guess I don’t want to be too critical from one night but again nostalgia glasses are on. My goal is to just let off steam after work in bg’s like I used to. Maybe now it would be smart to get into communities/guilds centering on BG’s at this point. and just get DF for that

I’ve had my coffee now.

So Dudette,

You’re gonna have a great time at max level in BGs. That’s where most of the population is. The shaman thing that you’re dealing with is very cheese at the moment. I think it’s something to do with Resto Shammy’s Chain lightning scaling.

On top of that, Blizz has made leveling below 60 way too fast. The BG queues took the hardest hit because of this. You will have some brackets where you will get almost no games. For me it was the 40-49 bracket. 10-29 I felt like the queues were nonstop. Once you get to 61 (DO NOT BG AT 60) queues will pop way more.

@Kthis

It’s a little past my bedtime now actually, Just feeling happy to be online again I suppose! The speed of leveling is actually a great explanation for the slow ques too…

I did go into the shadowlands starter zone today and all I really did was say Hi to Jaina and gained 2 levels… but wasn’t sure what to make of it other than it was definitely quicker than ever. Thanks for the input.

When i started in bfa bgs would pop at every lvl at every hour of the day, I know this because i got addicted and played at all times of the day lol. But i think shadowlands just killed pvp and nowin df lvl 70s sync down to low lvl bgs, And with no scaling or bolster to stop u from getting 1 shot. I think most ppl quit or dont even bother. Think low lvl tab target pvp is pretty much dead in all mmos at this point.

I remember in 2.0 swtor pvp would pop at 3am any day just like in bfa, But those days are long gone and people have just moved on to better things we have the memories now <3

3 am im guessing most people are sleeping.
buy df and play at 70 or get ready to write us another “ hello god its me margret” post once you see what’s happening at level 60.

Any pvp below the level cap is an unmitigated disaster with zero balancing. Your best bet is to focus on leveling.
