Because my dps was terrible, mind you I was 3100+ rated and had AOTC last season and know my class very well. The other Hunter in the raid was also near the bottom while hybrid DPS classes like Paladin and Shaman were blasting 1 Mil+ dps every boss fight. Kinda sucks but this recent balance change was a miss.

Look up Icy Veins, do what the guide tells you to do. Also, make sure your talented for ST damage. Practice on target dummies to get your rotation correctly, and make sure you watch videos and guides. Go over to Trueshot Lodge so you get the best advice from the best Hunters around.
Considering you both averaged barely above a grey parse for the run im not surprised you both got kicked lol

your talents look wrong, and your dmg is fairly low for what you should be doing on a ST fight

It’s not the balance tuning. It’s 100% you.
Where to begin.
1.) Wrong spec for a single target fight. You lost literally 10s of thousands of dps right there.
2.) Unenchanted gear. I get it, it’s expensive.
3.) Uptime on BW and Dire Beast were low at 87% and 71%. Being that low on DB casts really hurts.
4.) No prepot when others in your raid were potting. Small thing but when you are competing to keep your spot in a run it matters. Even if it is a rank 1 pot it still adds a lot to your opening burst which tone sets for the entire pull.
There are a lot of things you can fix to pump. Unfortunately making up balance tuning that didn’t happen and looking at other classes damage aren’t any of those things. Fix your rotation, gear, spec first, then blame everything else I say.

Can you give me an example of what the best talents would be for single target now? I tried switching up my talents 4-5 times during the raid and they all had around the same DPS when prepatch I would do 900k-1mil on single target fights, I agree my rotation wasn’t that good or my uptime and I didn’t use dps pots but I was mostly distracted trying to figure out why my DPS was so much worse compared to last week. I’ve looked at a lot of top raiders and M+ Hunter specs and everyone seemed slightly different.

Everyone else suggested icy so just save those specs. Then sit stationary on the single target dummy till you get good numbers from timing rotation. Probably some bm hunter on here can coach you on voice if you share your screen. Then start moving around and see what changes. Just dream up scenarios and act it out vs the dummies.
You can mod the icy specs later for pvp or general use if you need to.
I can do one better. Go to warcraftlogs. On the left you can see each fight. Click on them. It will default to mythic difficulty. Now you might think, yes, give me what the mythic bm hunters are using. Careful with that. Fights change dramatically from Heroic to Mythic. Sort it by Heroic then sort it by BM hunters. At the top of the BM hunter parse list you will see a drop down that shows you the spec that most hunters are using on that fight. You can even export it. Alternatively you can look at each hunter there and see what spec they ran for that specific parse. You can see their gear, all of it.
As far as rotation goes I’m zero help there as I am not a BM main. Wowhead and Icyveins have full sections devoted to this though. Just google 'bm hunter wowhead guide. Lots of great info there.

Edit: I have noted another problem: Crit>Msty>Agi>Vers>Haste for ST. You’re way too heavy on Haste, and your Msty is way too low…
Given that I’ve proven myself in that area last year, there’s no further comment for it lol. Not the first time I’ve seen jacked-up secondaries.
This is so blatantly wrong i struggle to figure out where you even got that from.
Haste/Mastery/Crit are all top tier stats with top 2 usually being haste/crit depending on gear, with mastery 3rd and vers lagging very far behind.

Why, I would have gotten it from Azor himself. He has a whopping 24k crit rating. Mastery, his 2nd highest, at 8.6k.
I honestly don’t have to try anymore. All I did was pull up “Azortharion-Kazzak-EU”, took me about a few seconds to locate it, a hot two seconds to look at the page, and there you go. No more than ten seconds.
Yea, i guess it takes more than 10 seconds to turn on your brain and figure out that it’s his MM gear.
Let alone the fact that even in his MM gear he still has more haste than vers.

Funny that I knew beforehand that MM and BM share the same stat priority, though the weights are different namely in Haste: BM Haste does weigh a good bit more than MM Haste.
Given that I said this, Haste is the lowest stat for SV spec too. Funny how that happened, FIRST TIME, EVERYBODY, that Haste is a dump stat for ALL THREE.
I don’t know the dude personally. I don’t know what pieces he calls “for MM” and “for BM”. But again, I have sources that say you don’t stack Haste for ANY spec right now, so he could be experimenting for all I know. He is the so-called brain, the “government scientist”. He probably collected tons of different Haste-heavy pieces. He can do that.
Mastery, like King Charles III, cheated on Versatility and got with Crit, so it’s Crit/Mastery all the way for ST.

Stat priority is Haste > Crit > Mastery > Vers
Which is in line with that i said.
So that means that you cant use his name for your argument, as such yes, your other sources are wrong. I dont need to know who or what they are to say that theyre wrong.
I’m personally ok with the amount of CEs that I’ve earned to not be chasing some imaginary goals via open world pvp.
Funny enough thats not how stat weights work.
