Just curious

An earlier topic I commented in today, got me thinking…(which is never good)

Okay so, Blizzard wanted to move away from Ferocity being pretty much BIS when it comes to which pets to use as either Survi or BM, right. They moved away from it by changing the way that damage is distributed, so that the 15% leech isn’t really that important anymore.

Now, when it comes to pets, you have more choices; do you want Ferocity for the Lust and leech effect, so you have more group utility and your pets can survive more things? Do you want Tenacity for the damage reduction CD, so you can avoid more mechanics? Do you want Cunning for…whatever in the world Cunning gives? You have options.

But you still have to tame specific pets. You used to be able to respec them at will. You could have a Ferocity turtle or a Cunning wolf. They took that away from us, for…what reason, exactly? And why, with all these awesome changes, did they not give that back to us, if they’ve basically made it a point that spec isn’t really important anymore, but just a flavor choice?

I really want one of those bakar from the plains, but they’re all Tenacity and I personally prefer Ferocity still, just because of the Lust. Why can’t I just tame a heckin’ good boi and make him Ferocity?

Why are those even Tenacity anyway? Wolves are Ferocity so why are…anyway.

Do my fellow Hunters think we’ll ever get the freedom to choose the specs back? I mean if they haven’t given it to us now, they may never again. :sob:

Hunters should absolutely be able to assign a characteristic to their pet

I’m so sick of seeing raptors in pvp even though i’d lose my turn evil if everyone could run mortal wounds cats

I really hope so.

In PvE, you’re locked into tenacity with some freedom over the pet’s individual special ability (but there’s always top contenders) outside of when you are in charge of lust. At high enough levels of M+, you’ll want to swap back and forth simply because the extra HP and FotB from tenacity is too valuable. In raid, hunters are very rarely in charge of lust, so they run tenacity. The leech from ferocity is so stupidly bad for BM aside from extra pet sustain.
Cunning is so niche in PvE I can’t imagine ever running it.

And then PvP you’re pretty deadlocked into cunning/MW.

Yea, kinda dumb that they took that option away. Let hunters run whatever they like looking at.

Yeah, this is true. It’s nice to have a Lust for whatever dungeon I’m doing, but raids, no one relies on a Hunter for that.

Aside from the bakar, I can’t think of any good Tenacity pets I really like. But see, this is my point. Even if Tenacity is now preferred for Hunters, we should still be able to CHOOSE what pets are Tenacity.

There’s gotta be like one dude who just has refused to ever stop using a wolf, just because of the aesthetics, but still wants to have the best possible spec for it. If he ever had the thought of, “You know, I really should have a Tenacity pet.” he’d have to ditch his best buddy and get like…a bear or something, lol. Why can’t he just go, “Oh, okay well…click…click annnnd he’s Tenacity now.”

It was just a really awesome feat of customization and I sorely miss it.

Pretty sure they said it was for flavour reasons, because it felt better if different pets were actually different. It also gives clarity so you know what your opponent is running if they have a given pet.

They were utterly wrong, of course, but they were the reasons.

Not going to lie, that’s kind of me. Mortal wounds/ferocity pets were “meta” in S4 due to dreadlord and Zul’Gamux healing, and I had a bee that matched my mount and I loved it to bits. Still run the bee a lot of the time when I’m on my hunter, even though mortal wounds isn’t as beneficial in most dungeons (though not maining my hunter this time around so I feel a lot more free to do what I want lol).

I mean, we can still have that, in the form of just pure aesthetical differences. You could have every single pet of yours be Cunning, but they could be wolves and plainstriders and crocolisks and all manner of stuff. That should be how it is, to where you just pick a pet you think is cool, not because “oh well I need a Tenacity, so…mammoth.” Ya know?

PvP wins the war again? :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Okay lemme guess. You’re Horde, so it wasn’t the bee mount. It was the black bee (Beehemoth) annnnd…the onyx cloud serpent? Right?

My hunter is alliance on retail  Honeyback harvester and a pet that matched it exactly.

Doh! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

If Blizz wants to truly end the faction divide, let Horde get this mount! lol :V

No arguments from me, bees for all
