It literally hits people for 8k damage. I love how the tooltip says “Slow moving, heavy damage”…is this a real ability?

Pets have normalized damage. Doesn’t matter what a single hit goes for with any pet I’ve tested. 393 iLvL using ONLY /petattack on the Raider’s Training Dummy for 120s my pets deal 3.7k dps over that time - only their auto-attack and single ability which is only ever used from the main pet.
BM suffers a damage penalty with Animal Companion but you get 2 pets which increases overall DPS over a single pet, however, individual hits will be lower with Animal Companion. Overall DPS will be higher with Animal Companion since every hit is x2.
Yea I’m just wondering if it’s a bug right now with the damage being lowered for Basilisk PvP talent? I don’t think Basilisk should be affected by the damage mitigation because you have animal companion.
Hmmmm. I’m not sure. I know there are/were bugs with AC so I wouldn’t be surprised if there was another bug affecting another pet. This is Blizzard, after all.
Its gotta be a bug because I refuse to believe Basilisk does 8k damage a hit.

Pet’s do that much with their special attacks (4.5k claw, smack, bite, etc) but not auto attack damage. You’ll notice in the tooltip it says the pet ability will deal 100% more damage while the pet is above 50 focus. Just that ability is worth 1.6k dps over 120s with only /petattack, about 2.2k dps with your normal rotation over 120s with Wrath, Bloodshed, etc to buff their damage.
You aren’t clarifying if he means claw, smack, bite damage or auto attack damage and if he’s looking at the average hit instead of breaking down normal vs criticals. The average of 45 smacks used in 120s is 8k. So he may be looking at the average of all hits and not normal or crit, misunderstanding how to read damage meters. In that 120s my lowest pet ability hit was 2500 and my highest was 14.2k - showing the low end of normal and high end of crit.
OP isn’t talking about a Basilisk pet. He’s talking about the PVP talent.

duh I’m stupid. He never mentioned in his OP I thought he was talking about the Basilisk family of animals I was like WTF.
Edit: yeah he’s right 8k damage per hit over the duration in full 411 no buffs or anything else popped.
It’s crazy cause I could swear Demo Locks have the same thing with Pit Lord but I believe it does way more damage.
Yea it’s basically the exact same thing as Pitlord, Basilisk just does like zero damage pet hit. Kind of insane they would waste a PvP talent with this one.
