Just can't get attached to this expansion SPOILERS

Hi! I want to share my experience with this expansion to see if some of the community feels the same way

My oldest achivement is from 2015 and since then I’ve been playing wow on and off. Took a break in Shadowlands after my sub ran out and I had to focus more on work and december 2022 got back in the game with the new expansion

Well, since I got back I’ve been leveling different characters and playing old expansions again (Pandaria was amazing even nowadays) because I just can’t stay in Dragonflight. It feels bland and… I don’t know, not interesting, annoying?

There is a lot of races that a lot people ask for but no, the developers want to be “original” and the Dracthyr is just awful, not to mention their voices are so robotic and annoying. Specialy that one that pops up survival of the fittest JUST SHUP UP!

Anyway, did the raid once, and never again. You need to have like 20 addons covering the whole screen, then read a guide and then watch 3 videos because there is like 34 mechanics each boss that can 1 shot kill you. That’s just not fun at all, plus the rewards are not worth it, raids are not hard, it is just annoying, dungeons are more fun

Another thing is the design, whats up with that? Usualy I go after a transmog or a cool mount, but the mogs are just awful and mounts are useless, because you can only fly in the 4 free ones. The factions? So shallow that I can’t even remember right, centaurs that shouldn’t even exist with annoying robotic voices? Tuskars? Where’s the Kirin Tor! The Blood Knights! The Knights of the Ebon Blade! There’s so many and many cool factions, the ones in Dragonflight aren’t cool in any way and I don’t feel inclined to grind for rep to feel part of one

The villain? Is there one yet? The again, annoying, proto dragon died in the first raid and now there’s three more like it in different colours. Ok…

One last thing: where is the “Warcraft” in this? I mean, ORC ORC ORC WAR DESTRUCTION PLAGUE DEATH THE END OF THE WORLD THE KNIGHTS IN SHINING ARMOR TRYING TO SAVE EVERYONE CORRUPTION SECRETS FROM THE VOID HEROES GREAT LEADERS

Anyway, long story short I feel annoyed in the dragon isles and that I don’t like it, but I want to like because it is wow and I’m trying again with another character the get into this expansion, it has been like, 4 months. Maybe it is not for me I should just wait for the next expansion, I don’t know

Honestly as far as story goes this is actually top tier for Blizzard. Now when you compared it to outside sources…

Still can’t forgive them for having the audacity to do what they did with the Jailer and call that a “cultivation” of fifteen plus years of storyline.

You specifically mentioned MoP as an xpac you enjoyed, which had zero main villain until the final patch. First patch was a blender of villains, none of which really mattered in the end. Second patch was like its own mini expansion with Trolls and Mogu.

Which is it: raids are not hard or you can’t survive mechanics and need a bunch of add-ons? Based on you completing it with one attempt, sounds like you were carried unless you’re referring to LFR. And if that’s the case, you don’t need add-ons. At all. I have zero installed.

Agreed. We’re in year 18, still waiting on Ogres. I feel Blizz gets their jollies off by reading player feedback and giving them a pinch of what they ask for (a dragon race), then making said race nowhere close to what they wanted (skinny and gecko-like instead of tough, armored lizards).

Oh, you want player housing? Here are garrisons. You want a mini-pokemon game with your pets? Here’s a system we’ll barely touch after implementing, enjoy the imbalance and bugs.

Blizzard is basically Corrupt A Wish.

I agree with you in all your points. The thing is about Pandaria is that the quests, the characters, the enviroment, everthing was interesting.

Factions: one example is the Shado-Pan, oh boy they were cool!

Villain: The Mogu felt like the inicial villain and then the Mantid seemed like the real end game villains, BUT WAIT! None of those were the main villain, it was a turn of events that got me even more interested. The thing is, danger was all around

You need maybe DBM.

Stop being so melodramatic

They literally said that was cultivated over 15 years? I had imagined the arc began around Legion. But if they said it began around the end of WotLK? That’s some seriously awful story telling.

OP complains about boring factions and then lists Kirin Tor as a better alternative.
Yikes.

I will agree Dracthyr are a pathetic version of playable dragonkin; the xmog restrictions are stupid, and being restricted to male belf or female human as visages when basically every NPC dragonkin capable of a visage isn’t so restricted. Definitely feels like they just ran out of time in the design room.

The story feels very lacking in substance. Feels like they’re going to have to retcon reveal some “undiscovered” lore to wrap things up later.

I love MoP to death, but danger was not all around. The Mantid are allies in the beginning; there’s a whole zone dedicated to assisting them take down their sha corrupted brethren, then they reappear for one boss in SoO. Mogushan Vault is an exploration raid, complete with a history tour guide.

I mean, you say Mogu felt like the initial villain, yet you barely encounter them while questing…are they even anywhere other than the mountains and the small area of Kunn Lai?

Sha are the only consistent enemy of MoP, and I think even they went away in the Thunder Isle Patch, where the villain is a mix of Zandi and Mogu. Which is kind of a rehash of MSV. But then both of those villains vanish after ToT…

Shadopan were pretty cool though. That’s probably my favorite faction of MoP. I love Tuskarr though.

What actually do you want out of this game?

It seems you don’t know what you actually like about the game or why you play it.

No content will fully satisfy you if you don’t know what you are wanting from the game.

Whether this character you are posting in is your main or not, there is little evidence that you have actually engaged in any meaningful way with the content to be able to make an educated decision on whether or not its good for you.

And respectfully… stop living in the past. Move on.
Mist of Pandaria was great, 10 and a half years ago. Great to go play the area again, not great to cling to wanting the game to stay as it was.

Yes like it was some grand story cultivation of the Jailer being behind everything but the execution of it was thrash to say it bluntly. And we all know they wanted to emulate Endwalker but unlike FF they put zero work into it.

I thought trying to have a story arc over three expansions was bad, but 6? Holy moly. There was nothing to suggest in Cataclysm, MoP or WoD that could be related anywhere near what they ended up with.

I still wouldn’t call this anywhere near top tier even for modern blizzard. It only looks good in comparison to the two dumpsterfires immediately before it. There are still a lot of things in DF lore that don’t really make sense. A few major ones as well:

Who are the primalists and how did they even find out about Raszageth? What are their motivations for turning Azeroth into an elemental hellscape? It’s just as bad as the forsworn serving the Jailer for “reasons.”

Also the entirety of the centaur content. They shouldn’t even be on the isles.

Why yes which is why I said for Blizzard. We still haven’t even gotten the reaction of the new elemental lords to this entire mess or Therazane and Neptulon. I try not to think too hard on it when it comes to WOW. It starts to get painful fast

Legion was WoW’s version of Endwalker. It wrapped up all the main storylines going back to 2004 and finally dealt with the big bad that had been hovering over the game since launch.

If only Blizzard had marketed it that way. It remains my second favorite expansion behind Wrath.

I have AOTC. The only addon I use is meters. I have watched 0 raid videos. These things aren’t needed.

They had commercials on it. It was hilarious if it wasn’t so sad.

Umm, just a small point of order, but the word is culmination.

cul·mi·na·tion

/ˌkəlməˈnāSH(ə)n/

noun

  1. the highest or climactic point of something, especially as attained after a long time.

"the product was the culmination of 13 years of research

They were thankfully wrapping up that story arc after dragging it out for way too long and moving on to the next.

We’re basically still in the first chapter of the new arc so I think it’s a little premature to judge it yet.

I mentioned MOP as an example, Legion I played many times because of the Class Halls and the artifact weapons. Even WOD I enjoyed constructing the garrison and visiting Outland before the corruption that was considered a bad expac

I played many characters in many servers, done almost all content in wow, maybe couple of zones of Vanilla and didn’t go all the way in TBC. If you look at my achievements I have all the things from ICC besides the Invencible mount (damn you RNG!) and a good number of exalted reps. I have the achievement “Two sides of every tale” and all of the allied races unlocked, played Legion and BFA extensevely

I’m not living in the past, read again, I feel like there’s nothing interesting in this expac and maybe it is not for me and perhaps other people feel the same way, or not

Maybe the world hum is making people unable to focus while playing.

I wasn’t present at the end of Shadowlands but read about it and watched videos about the Jailer ending
