Just can't bring new players because of crappy old quests

Hi there. I made this account 9 years ago and have been a true fan of WoW, especially in BfA with the beautiful new graphics and great new quests, but all of my friends quit the game long ago and I just can’t bring them back, or bring other friends who never played the game because they keep saying it’s a sh*ty game when they play the low-level “free to play” quests.

Please let free accounts use the class trial system so new players can actually experience the real game and be attracted to the game, because killing 900 pointless animals for 10 levels or more is outstandingly boring.

I mean, they’re probably not wrong about that.

I’m relatively new. Played in classic as a kid, lost my account, and didn’t come back until I started fresh in WoD.

The quests in wow are waaaay better than most MMOs. At least in wow you get to use vehicles, drag gnolls on a rope, interrogate victims, kill innocent cows, and defend high-speed caravans. Most other MMOs have you just doing fetch/kill quests. World of Warcraft has it’s fair share of those, but at least it isn’t only those.

It’s actually 10 to 20 animals. The really brutal quests are those that ask you to bring 10 or 20 gizzard or jawbones from killed animals. A kill does not guarantee that. Sometimes you just get silver or some other loot and 10 to 20 objective loot could mean killing around 30 or 35 critters.

Absolutely this. ^

If your friends don’t like these quests… they probably don’t like MMOs.

When you compare it to relatively “new” flashy games like those new kind of MMORPGs called Shoot Looters, well yeah… it’s a bad game, even BFA.

It’s a fact people will usually lean for flashy graphics over gameplay now when trying new games, unless they feel strictly restricted, like playing on a Switch, that they know can’t do much better.

I just played the undead starting quests for an hour or so with a friend, and we literally only killed animals for 90% of the time and have very long walks around a tasteless plain field. Just make an undead and see what i’m talking about.

I have done most of the Alliance quests from 110-120 and they are absolutely enjoyable, with audio, interesting stories, mounting, flying, navigating around beautiful and interesting places that keep you attracted to play it for hours, no monotony at all.

Your opinion on the “tasteless plain field” thing. And welcome to an MMO. There are going to be “kill these” quests. There are in BfA, as well. So I’m not sure how this is any different than what we currently have.

Starter area questing is intended to be simple - it was designed to cater to people who may never have played an MMO before. I was in that boat when I started. I had never played an MMO, had no idea what to do (thankfully I had friends to help me and explain how things worked) but there are actually people out there who are new to gaming and the starter zones are intended to introduce them gently to the systems.

If your friends are familiar with gaming it won’t take them long to move past those early levels and advance into a lot more variety. And if they feel an hour’s effort is too much to put into levelling through that stage, their need for immediate advanced gratification won’t be met in WoW’s style of MMO I’m afraid.

Last December I finally decided to play the trail version of this game ( some “should you play wow” video on youtube suggested that anyone who is thinking about getting into wow should play 1-20 trail version and see if they like the game, so that’s what I did.) So there I was, questing in barrens, something about collecting 8 plainstider beaks, I probably killed 40 plainstriders only to get 5 plainstider beak, and I remember thinking to myself “why do some plainstiders have beak and some don’t? What dark sorcery is this?!” That’s when I fell in love with this game. I would pick low level quests over max level quests any day.

Where you the night of November 5th, 2017?

May I just say that I love your name.

I have a gnome rogue called Littlesneak. Rogues just present themselves for neat names :upside_down_face:

When do quests change? Low level or high you’re asked to collect something or kill an elite or x amount. Some people just don’t like this game. I questioned myself while in Arathi highlands back in BC if I really like this game (played because of friends). I stuck it out and am still here while they all quit.

Honestly?

I think that raising the “F2P” level is a really good idea. Level 20 is irrelevant, and I understand that a tiny number of people play on those accounts forever…but still, rather than “squish levels” to make things “less daunting”, just do like others have done and let people play at max level with HEAVY restrictions.

Do people actually read the quests? Even as a dumb kid I never read the quests and just killed everything in sight and hoped for the best.

Its not much different in max level anyway.

It would be enough to let people try classes at 110!

If someone doesn’t like quesitng at level 1 they aren’t going to like it at 110. It’s the same stuff. Killing mobs and collecting items. Nothing really changes.
