So! i came back just in time to finally get the wrath timewalking mount which i’ve been gunning for some time. I havn’t bothered to do any of the raids in BFA, but i was pretty up to date with the lore right up until after the zuldazar raid.
Now that i have returned, and confirmed this is, in fact, MoP 2, i have a few questions since im just catching up with things (and only had time to do the alliance side up to a certain part):
How did Sylvanas know Azshara would pull a Moses for her to get rid of the Alliance fleet? Was this just a stroke of luck or did she load those ships with people she didnt mind dying anyway?
How come Ashvane is suddenly working with the naga, wasnt she broken out of prison by the horde?
Is there a particular reason Mama Naga did not drown us all when she had the chance? or was it just hubris and bond villain stupidity?
Mind you, some big bads we’ve fought were playing us like a fiddle all along (LK) or had actual reasons to be smug (Elissandre). Bc from the cinematic it just looks like she gets whooped by Jaina and Lor’themar
When in the timeline does Mechagon happen? After or during Nazjatar?
How did Azshara get the Tidestone? You mean to tell me the kirin tor just left it unguarded at the tomb or sargeras or something?
Thats about it really. It bothers me that I have to team with up with Saurfang- who’s just as responsible for Teld as Sylvanas (and i imagine horde players being forced to either team up with Jaina or “play along” feel similar). It also bothers me that Malf and Tyrande got sidelined and apparently arent in nazjatar so we could have Jaina and Lor confirm this really is MoP 2- but at this point its more like cold indifference more than anger.

No, i know that, but how did she physically got herself down to the bottom of the ocean to directly work with the naga when the last we saw of her she was on a horde ship

this is one of the bigger misteries yet, we don’t know why sylvanas trust the old god dagger to lead her to victory.
literally no explanation for that, apparently, sylvanas,azshara, and ashavane are working togheter?
She wanted to lure the empowered champions into her palace
She could have killled us anytime she wanted in najzatar or in the palace. but she was only playing with us.
We don’t know if she planned her death. probably she didn’t expect to be defeated by the combined alliance and horde?

This is another of those things that have no explanation or happened behind camera, apparently she stolen the tidestone and no one noticed it until now.
No one truly understand why malf or tyrande aren’t present in nazjatar. we will probably have our answer in the far future.
She still needed it to be empowered by the essences of azeroth, so we, the champions gave her a titan artifact directly linked with the most powerful forces in azeroth.
We spend the entire patch further powering it up with the essences of the dragonflights, if she killed us she misses out on who knows what connections we have agreeing to empower it. No, better to let us make it stronger and hand deliver it at its peak.
Question 1 and 2 answer each other. Ashvane was always working with the naga for raisins and Sylvanas presumably rescued her with the intent of using Ashvane to get in contact with Azshara. And from there plan out the whole hole in the ocean plan.
Thought apparently not going as far as to try and protect her open people in this “arrangement”. Hmm.
In terms of question 1, there’s another option that might be revealed later on. Xal’atath is no longer held in the dagger, and the cutscene implied that Nathanos was being guided by it. One inference could be that when empty of an entity, the dagger is drawn to beings of similar power. It may literally be an Old God trap.
Literally nothing in this setting is immune to corruption/purification. This is how i would have done it if i was Mama Naga:
Step 1- Split apart ocean
Step 2- Restore ocean back to normal, instantly killing wielder of the HoT, many ViPs of the 2 only world powers who have saved azeroth several times, and the 2dn most powerful living caster (jaina)
Step 3- Use my literal army of fish/snake soldiers to find HoT among the wreckage
Step 4- Look for my own way to empower the HoT bc im Mama Naga, literally one of THE most powerful beings who ever lived on Azeroth and who have been powered up further by nzoth and all
Step 5- ishnu alah weary old god
Azshara’s plan is riding on a hilarious amount of IFs.
*What if the Wielder of the heart isnt with the raid or they died somewhere else while gathering essence?
*What if the Wielder of the heart cant find a way to empower it?
*What if the wielder of the heart doesnt bring the heart to the raid and hides it beforehand?
*etc
It would have been better if Azshara did try do drown us but we use the heart to that- or if she uses some other type of magic and we use the tidestone to stop the ocean from crushing us
It is part of a titain with a speaker who can tell you how to power it up using the blood of the most powerful titan what is hard to beilive about it being bound to you. Mother says as much in that by empowering it you empower yourself.
As far i understand it, the PC got the heart because they were worthy of it. The Right man for the job, as if it were.
But its never had (that i remember) some sort of worthiness enchantment like thor’s hammer, it doesnt have a will of its own to serve only its true master like the One Ring, hell, it didnt have some sort of condition attached to its use like Frostmourne.
Azeroth literally looked at the PC’s CV, hired us for the job, and now we are doing it. It was never said that if someone who’s not the PC wore the HoT they would explode or something.
And even then it could still be corrupted (like everything else can be in this setting)
Yes well if it was as easy as walking up to them anf going yonk anyone could do it hell you could just use those endless numbers to go corrupt the heart chamber.
Point is sll old god plans are convoluted and rely on chance and this plan to use not even stesling the powered up heart worked
This is true but the best explanation is the heart only works for us to is a special one of a kind heart of a titan after all. Also azshara is above such things let the lesser races do the foot work.
The champion of azeroth dying to some random accident is incredibly unlikely. If you assume they’ve been present at every major battle even just this expansion N’zoth at least chose them because he believed they could make it this far. We’re the slayers of gods and kings after all.
I like fun ideas. However, ashvayne working with the naga is likely connected to Sylvanas breaking her out as well as sylvanas knowing where to send the fleet. Break out, dagger discovery, destroys alliance fleet, bam there’s Priscilla.
If the undead are supposed to be resistant or immune to the old gods corruption, then I have personally thought Sylvanas must be seeing through such things to say their “illusion” or maybe corruption is mute compared to their truths. Ilg’s box seems to have been able to predict the future with some of its statements, so if sylvanas/undead can see through the OG cryptic messages for what they are then she can accurately read the script as other people on this forum put it.
