Just back, Hey! Ok, I know it’s natural to suddenly look at everything and go wth? But this time it is just hells bells this is a lot of confusion and seemingly unnecessary complications. I’m spending a ton of time just reading and researching. Like I said, I expected some of it, but really? (and of course those darn bags full of stuff I’m not sure of what to get rid of, lol!) But at some point I’d actually like to play the darn game!
I left of at Emerald Dream so I get the flying thing, but why is the whole currency type stuff so all over the place? The abilities and tree stuff I’ve got figured out - sort of, but still not sure whether my beast master or dh are better to solo with - possibly my lock or rogue? (I’m not a high-end or dungeon type person.)
Maybe everything looking more complicated and difficult is a ‘me’ issue, but I’m not sure I should stay or throw in the towel and go catch up on my other mmo. Any other returning players out there understand? And regular players advice appreciated.
And wow, the forums have a slew of new names! Looking forward to the “get the hell out” or “welcome back” responses, lol!!!
Here’s a cupcake to bribe nice & helpful responses!

All classes can solo, BM Hunter still the easiest of your list.
And yes it’s a lot, just try to be methodical and feel it out, ask for help in chat. Maybe look up some guilds to join.

Yeah I skipped out on most of DF and when I returned my first thought was that I was going to need a guide to tell me what I’m expected to be doing.
Which doesn’t seem like great design. I know Blizzard probably doesn’t care a whole lot about the new player experience at this point since WoW probably doesn’t get a ton of new players, but for returning players it’s also pretty bad.
Especially joining towards the end of the expansion my map was loaded down with quests marked important, only about 1/4 of which were actually relevant to the current patch.
There’s unfortunately a lot of needless complexity in some stuff in this game like currencies. Being able to upgrade gear is nice, but I don’t need like half a dozen currencies to all do that one thing.

You are not wrong. The sheer number of different currency is mind boggling.
Professions I am not happy with either as I wasn’t in on the gold grind that first week.

It’s always sort of overwhelming to come back to a game after being away from it a while. Just take it slow and piece by piece. You can pretty easily just go with the flow and be ok.
The currency stuff is just imported from DF, so if you knew that, it’s the same. Valorstones instead of Flightstones, there’s still crests. Resonance Crystals are just Dragonscale Supplies with a new name. Kej is a currency specific to the Azj’kahet and isn’t super necessary. If you intend to do delves you’ll need you’ll need relic coffer keys, which drop from the first 4 weekly outdoor box activities you do.
Any class works, so play whatever you think is most fun.

I’d quote your entire post! Exactly. That really helped me feel not so stupid about the whole thing. Thank you, really!

I totally gave up on professions in df.
And currencies started getting worse since BFA.
Ty for this - and the rest, though I didn’t really get acquainted with currencies in DF - most of my time was just trying to fly and do msq’s, didn’t restart until it was half way thru waiting for normal flying. Basically I’m behind on everything. But thank you, I’m going to give it a shot for a month. I only get about two hours a day and I feel like I’m spending it just trying to figure out where to start (&research)! Lol
