I pretty much ignored the “Classic is Nerfed” threads and put it down to the Raids just being easier and starting at a patch near the end of Vanilla. What has convinced me that is not the whole picture?

I was going through the Swamp of Sorrows at level 40 and noticed that the Scalebane Captians that should be level 42-44 Elites are normal. So I posted a bug on the bug forum.

From the responses and reading the other bugs that had been posted, it really looks like the creatures in the world, and in dungeons, have been released for Classic with the changes from patch 2.3 which is where the elites misssing from the Swamp of Sorrows (Around the Sunken Temple), the elites around Onys lair, the Skull Level mobs in UBRS, etc. were removed to “accomodate soloing” and as part of the dungeon revamp.

Now I may have missed something but I have yet to see a Blue post about why, if we are starting at 1.12, changes that didn’t happen until 2.3, are in the game.

To put it simply, you are remembering it wrong. Those were never elites. There are still skull mobs in UBRS. All the elite areas in the world are still elite. Nothing has changed.

Baloney, I started playing about a month after release, these were elites.

Scalebane Captain

  • Level: 43 - 44
  • Class: Elite
  • React: A H
    Faction: Dragonflight, Green
  • Health: 5,148 - 5,346
  • Wealth: 92

Here is the same mob in TBC

  • Level: 43 - 44

P.S. Read the bug forums about the missing Skull level mobs.

I personally do not remember this that well, but now I am curious.

I looked through the patches trying to figure out when they reverted to normal, as well as the elite crocs and dragonkin around Ony’s lair. The closest I could find were the massive changes to the elite population with patch 2.3.

P.S. I’ll really be bummed if the roving elite Demon is gone from Felwood or the elites in Winterspring.

Which Winterspring elites are you referring to?

The ones I farmed with my guild to get items, I think they were for Benediction but it could have been for someone elses needs. I think they were to the NE?

Aye, those are still elite, and just as powerful. Bottom of Winterspring.
