Just add gear scaling in bgs

Title. Have gear scaling only in unranked bgs, maybe up to a certain ilvl.

It’s not fun doing the honor grind on a fresh character. It’s just 20 hours of getting smashed. Scaling gear in unranked bgs would make bgs a ton more fun and fun is good.

Can we also be allowed to send conquest and honor to alts? The conquest boxes are a step in the right direction but like why isn’t this a thing?

Cheap crafted starter set pvp would help.

Account wide honor with no cap – turn it into honor tokens automatically at the end of a season.

Reducing the need for so much honor to upgrade your conquest gear we remove the incentive for high geared players to do so many bgs

This would be really helpful, if you want to show off how great your gear is and how OP you are, go do rated PvP.

yea basically that

I’m sure someone is gonna argue that this helps with those that came before you… feeling like they are “PROGRESSING”!!! All that fancy new gear helps them stomp n00bs! FUN, riGHtt??

We’ve had this at various points in the game, and almost no one uses it. “Why should I spent 10k on intro gear, when I can just afk to earn enough currency to buy the better stuff?”

Part of the problem is people view BGs as “throwaway.” If you’re not doing Arena or RBG, NOTHING ELSE matters. If you afk or cheat or anything else… who cares, that’s “not real content.”

Yet for MOST people, that’s all they do! lol

Key word there is cheap.

How are you going to control the PRICE?

If it’s crafted, the price is controlled by the players/ AH bots.

Yes, by making the materials easy to get.

Not an unreasonable request tbh

Presumably, random BGs/epic BGs are intended to be the “casual” outlet for PvP… so it makes sense to have all player power equalized inside the instance since it’s not really a “serious” or competitive game mode.

If their main concern or hangup is keeping WoW token/rated PvP boost sales high, they can simply allow full iLvL disparity in rated PvP settings (arena, RBGs, etc).

Ideally player power would just be standardized/equal in all PvP, but this is a sort of “half and half” compromise; casuals get fair/equal PvP, and Blizzard gets to continue profitting off of boost/WoW token sales in the rated PvP scene.

1> So you’re going to crash the entire gathering/proff to give PvP easier access??? +laff+

2> Even disregarding that point, “easy” is relative. People are still going to want a profit for collecting/crafting something, and therefore people are going to ignore it when “BGs don’t matter.”

3> Seems to me, the acquisition of intro gear, etc all falls under the weight of the perception that “BGs don’t matter.”

You need to change that attitude, first.

can we just come together and argue about my idea first :stuck_out_tongue:

hyperbole much?

For example for leather – probably the most expensive crafting profession:

Make each piece of pvp starter gear take 5-10 [Heavy Desolate Leather].

That would make each piece cost 150 - 400g. This would mean starter pvp gear would cost ~ 2000-5000g.

Which isn’t unreasonable.

if instanced pvp scaled all gear to the same ilvl, more people would be pvping at all levels. that sounds like a bad idea

Doesn’t have to be at all levels, just randoms, the gear can stay at it’s current ilvl in rated PvP. That way the tryhards can use their gear against each other and casuals/new players gearing up aren’t getting one shot and feeling completely useless. I personally don’t bother trying until comp stomp since then I don’t have to worry about some rated PvP tryhard obliterating me with me having no chance.

Alternatively, make rated PvP gear require rated BG honor to upgrade. No need for geared players to roll through randoms anymore.

Having the option to upgrade with conquest too would have been nice

I think it would work better if in unrated BGs everyone was scaled up to a floor of 200 and down to a ceiling of 233.

WoD system ftw

If we take current duelist as WoD conquest gear, then WoD scaled you up to an equivalent of the current 7/7 honor gear for free. WoD honor gear was equivalent of the current 1400 cr conquest upgrades.

Blizzard should really do away with PvP gear upgrade shenanigans.

WAAY more than “20 hours”.

Actually, wod conquest gear was the equivalent of 3 shadowlands ilvls higher than honor gear.

They won’t do this because…

  1. It locks the people who played the game 24/7 the first couple of weeks into a perma-win situation where they can sell enough carries for money that they don’t have to have a real life job.
  2. The honor grind is intended to lock casuals out of the system by wasting an inordinate amount of their time, and make them perpetually victims for #1 above.

I don’t think they even look at how the current system is affecting the PvP playerbase overall, most of whom never did rated because they didn’t want to.

They look at the ladder, and if too many people are leaving from the top, they give them guaranteed points. Or an extra gear rank.
