I know I’m late to the party but I don’t know if I should just give up at this point but i’ve killed Rustfeather over 800 times. I think it’s more like 840 but anyone else struggling to get it this bad or am just astronomically unlucky.

I’m looking at around 200 kills myself. Gave up after a few months of doing it on three characters every day, sometimes if I realize I have nothing to do while online I’ll stop by.
Just RNG. Sucks and you’re unlucky.
But on the bright side this means all your luck is saving up for something cool. Do an Invincible run. Today’s the lucky day.

It was late into WoD before I finally got the mount drop from the Huntsman in Karazhan.
Meanwhile, five times throwing shade at Arthas nets me Invincible.
RNG be like that.

I got 2 of the other invasion mogs I didn’t want before giving up
It took me over a year of almost weekly runs of SoO to get the dark shaman set. That’s over 50 runs of a raid. You can do it! RNG sucks but it can’t hold out forever.

Seriously though, best of luck on it. It’s a long term deal, like the people who go after a 7-tine stag irl. I have enough respect for guys like you I just move on when I see you staking it out.
If nothing else you’re using up the bad rng, so I get the good numbers. 
(yes I know statistics / probabilities don’t work that way)

It’s really not so bad at this point. They changed the spawn timer to every 15 minutes. I spread it out during the week, but I’m still at it.
It’s the only mount I’ve ever done this for, but I’ve farmed the hell out of dungeons to get transmog drops.
The RNG in this game is a nightmare at times.
Nah man, I’ve been almost 6 months on 8 alts a day 5x a week and by my math that’s over 900 kills and still nuthin’. At this point it woulda been easier to do the meta-achieve for the palette-swap gearwheel but nah, I got a X-51 so screw it

As many have said previously, RNG can be a blessing but mostly a pain in the behind level of curse at times. I ran Coren Direbrew, every single day of Brewfest, on an average of five characters per day, for 10 whole years without seeing either mount drop (probably around 700ish kills, give or take a few). Seasonal holiday RNG is even worse in my opinion cause you have to wait another 350 days until you can try again.
Then all the sudden both dropped in the same day.
I genuinely believe this now. You just gotta keep faithful that one day, a miracle will happen. Sending some spare luck over to y’all cause who knows, maybe something insane will happen!

I laugh now but come Shadowlands when I am farming mythic Stormshrine every single day for the tentacle pope transmog it won’t be so funny

I have a personal vault bank bag filled with kodos and rams from Brewfest in the hopes that one day Blizz will allow us to cage mounts, like we do pets and I can give them to people who just can’t get them as drops.

(Statement): Unit Exacitor has everything from Mechagon, EXCEPT for the Vinyl, Triumph of Gnomeregan. Unit Exacitor didn’t even want the rusted mounts from Rustfeather or the Harvester. Unit Exacitor just wants his Model-W!

This is how I feel, still grinding Legion rep on my main… not a single legion rep cache has turned out a mount 
I gave up on trying to camp Rustfeather.
