Junker Gnomes Don't Work as a Allied Race

After hearing the Announcement of Patch 8.2 that we’re going to Mechagon AKA place of the Junker Gnomes where everyone has been making posts about wanting Junker Gnomes as a full on Stand alone Allied Race. May I ask why?

To me Junker Gnomes seems to be another random race that no one on the alliance side asked for. Remember Void Elves? Yea look how that turned out and endless cries of wanting something original for the Alliance in terms of Elves with different color skin still continues and endless arguments continues. So why should we want a random race that no one asked for but only few people do would make the Alliance Allied Races any better?

Here’s couple of examples why:

1: Junker Gnomes aren’t the Ones from Northrend.

To players. Junker Gnomes may sound familiar like the ones up in Northrend Mechagnomes in Ulduar. But Junker Gnomes in terms of Looks don’t even come close to the ones in Northrend. They look more like generic half robots than Pure Half Titan Robots and in terms of Customization options is very weak and limited. Instead of One Robot Arm or One Robot Leg is two robot legs and arms and even robot eyes than normal eyes. From Concept Junker Gnomes seem to be kind of like Void Elves if people wanted High Elves but then Blizzard gave Alliance another Generic Dull Blueberries. In case with Junker Gnomes/Mechagnomes this concept of an Allied race seems to be a failure on one day.

2: They don’t work as a Stand Alone Allied Race and should have been a option for Regular Gnomes.

Its kind of pointless to even add them on the Allied Race slot since so many big highly requested races should be on there like High Elves, Wildhammer Dwarves, Broken Draenei, Sethrak, Arakkoa, Vulpera, San’layn, Forest Trolls, Ogres, Nathanos like Humans and etc. Even as a Stand Alone Allied Race Junker Gnomes don’t even work since their Heritage Armor is pretty much going to be the same as Regular Gnomes. In fact you might as well give these options to Regular Gnomes since what’s the point of adding them in if people wanted Robot Arms and legs for Regular Gnomes.

3: People who asked them will probably never play Alliance and would be a Wasted Allied Race on the Allied Race Slot.

Players on the Horde side who asked for them probably will not play them for long and will just nether abandon the race as a whole just to mock/tease Alliance Players who wanted iconic original races that should have been added in the system or just completely forget the Alliance all together. As to those on the Alliance who do wanted them They’ll probably forget them and go back to their popular races since noone plays Gnomes alot.

There you have it. Basically a random race that people wanted all whole ignoring the ones that actual matters to the lore. Forced gameplay or having Random Races to be added in for no reasons doesn’t make the game any better nor making the story anymore good than it was. When will we wake up and start accepting races that deserve to be playable, Races that has a lot more Lore and Feeling than Random Races or Races that doesn’t feel like Warcraft. In terms of Future for Allied Races. It isn’t going to be good. I can already see news of Light Forsaken being an Allied Race and people still continue to act so blindly without saying that Light Forsaken and etc feels more of a random race than a Race that suppose to be Faction Identity. Junker Gnomes, Light Forsaken, Gilgoblins, and etc doesn’t bring in that Faction Identity.

The Ones that do bring that Faction Identity gets rejected, memed, and being more as Props than Actual Races that deserves to be playable than just being simple options for regular races like Wildhammer Dwarves, Forest Trolls, High Elves, San’layn, Nathanos Humans, and etc.

Already as of now Future for Allied Races isn’t going to be good nor good for the game in entre. Only Ones that actual do bring Faction Identity is Kul’tirans and Zandalari Trolls. Other than that. Future of BFA is probably going down the routes of WoD except a lot more worst than WoD full of broken Dreams, Promises, and lack of playing anything iconic on the Alliance nor Horde in general.

Why would Blizzard listen to their subscribers about what they want from allied races?

It isn’t blizzards fault you don’t know what you want.

Blizzard’s good idea faire strikes again?

I’m sorry, I think I might be out of the loop but did Blizzard actually confirm Junker Gnomes as an allied race?

The last I heard about them was that they were on a powerpoint slide accompanied with a vague description of us “lending them aid”.

If they are, I’m inclined to agree with you, OP.

Another reason Junker Gnomes may not work is that their mechanical aesthetics would be pointless as the majority of toons are going to get armed to the hilt. Just like you said, what’s the point of mechanical joints if they are literally covered by heritage or even leg armors from BC and Wrath?

Yea. If the Junker Gnome’s Heritage Armor is the Same like the Regular Gnomes. What’s the point of them being an Allied Race then.

my thing is, why spend time grinding a rep for a race i dont play even with base gnome, just to play as a gnome whose cosmetic appearances will be hidden under armor?

When I heard the rumors about Junker Gnomes I was thinking of the completely robotic gnomes like Mimiron. I thought, yeah I’d be into it. Then I saw them and was like… Nevermind.

The whole point of allied races is not to be ‘new’ races, but reskins of the current races - which is why you have highmountain tauren for example, who only have 1 difference… the male tauren have moose antlers instead of cow / bull horns.

They’re just different aesthetics of the existing races. That is the point.

NEW races are different, they would not resemble the current races.

Junker Gnomes are coming, you may think that you don’t like them, but you do.

I’m actually wondering if they will be customization options like the Black Eyes for Night Elves rather than a new race.

and instead of letting us make toons with races we have been allied with for over 10 years

we get lazy “new” races that nobody asked for

In the next patch, our characters will go on an adventure to figure out who whispered “Junker Gnomes” to the developers when they were picking a new allied race.

Maybe their heritage armor will be an “every slot hidden” set…then we could see all the gears and whatnot.

I would like fully-mecha gnomes over cyborg gnomes, I think…

….I might spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about gnomes.

Cyborg gnomes sounded neat in theory but they were executed pretty poorly. I would much prefer the ones from Northrend, however I do not play gnomes so it’s not my place to speak.

All variations of “allied” races should just be customization options for current races defaulted in. But that doesn’t make money from race changes now does it? It’s not enough we pay full retail for the game plus subscription. And we are lied to that it’s due to high dev costs, but that’s already been debunked… It’s really just about getting as much cash as possible, and that’s your answer. It’s all cash grabbing. They don’t care about you, the lore, the game, or anything. It’s why BFA is in a poor state. If a blue poster responds giving you a reason, it’s going to be a lie, or a post out of pure ignorance.

Skaven should be an allied race

May I direct your attention to some existing races such as the Forsaken? The feet of a Darkspear troll? Perhaps the horns or hooves of a Tauren? Blizzard could potentially hide mechanical joints yet they have created plenty of races revealing their iconic biological features while equipped with armor.

Our Gnomes = Hail from Gnomeregan

Junker Gnomes = Thus far appear to hail from Mechagon

Highly unlikely Junker gnomes will sport heritage armor from a city they aren’t connected to.
