WoW Developer Sigma posted on the Beta forums that Protection Paladins will join Retribution Paladins in Judgment generating Holy Power once again, because quote “Judgment feels a lot better when it generates”.
Yet Judgment does not generate Holy Power for Holy Paladins despite overwhelming feedback from players that it should.
Judgment use to generate Holy Power for Holy Paladins back when we first had this system pre-Legion, yet for some unknown reason it no longer does with this Shadowlands reintroduction.
How the Developers can justify forcing the extremely controversial Holy Power system back on Holy Paladins because of “class fantasy, not spec fantasy” and yet exclude Holy from generating Holy Power on Judgment is so shocking illogical and embarrassing i can not begin to comprehend what the developers are doing.
Remove or nerf the Holy Power generation we receive from directly healing the Beacon target and redistribute that generation into Judgment and elsewhere, example: Infusion of Light.
We are NOT Tank healers, directly healing the Beacon target is the least efficient way to heal, and doing so just to generate Holy Power is horrible.
Holy Paladins are the most reworked Healer in Shadowlands and yet have had the least developer attention. The current state of Holy on the Beta is crisis level bad, there should be mass outrage over how disgustingly bad it is. This Judgment situation is just one in a VERY long list of problems.
Holy Paladins, if you want this spec to be remotely fun or viable to play in Shadowlands it is time to make some noise.
After checking out the shadowlands castle logs today im horrified. Judgement NEEDS to generate HP but at this point it seems like the least of the concerns after what i saw…
I’d argue neither cs nor judgement should be granting hp. Judge, cs, cs doesn’t sound like a healer spec rotation. Putting a priority on judgement means adding another gcd to the mix marginalizing holy light further.
I get it from a pvp perspective especially. Being tethered to a melee hit to gain healing resources is nearly non viable.
Really WoG just isn’t needed for Holy design, and therefor holy power as well. But players are clamoring the devs for class identity and bringing specs closer together.
What abilities should generate HP if not CS/Judge? Infusion could, but they’d still be at a HP deficit.
The only healer spells that exist that could make sense, are Holy Shock and infusion Procs. You could make Hshock generate 2 Holy Power, and Infusion give 1. That way holy paladins aren’t locked into having to crusader strike, but still can with the appropriate talent for more holy shocks+more holy power.
Id say rather than focus on hp starvation and casting WoG more often, instead buff fol/hl, and even WoG numbers. Maybe even turn HL into a 2sec heal baseline.
I’ve accepted the fact we’re melee healers. But we cannot be in melee 100% of the time to cast CS. Judgement would help fill that void and make the spec feel less … “clunky”.
I agree, but sadly i think what you’re asking for would require a larger rework that we wouldn’t see this expansion. As long as ‘Crusader Strike’ gives Holy Power baseline, and our Mastery keeps us in Melee, all we can do is make best of a bad situation and i think that means making ‘Judgment’ give Holy Power baseline.
I think the reason why holy’s judgment isn’t going to generate holy power is that holy shock already does. I think blizzard just want prot & holy to only have 2 abilities that generate holy power since ret is the spec that should be spending holy power like crazy so they need to generate holy power quickly unlike the other 2 spec.
Also if blizzard make judgment generate holy power then people will try to play holy at range when its suppose to play as a melee healer.
That is arguably what appeals to most holy paladins – being a melee battle cleric of sorts. Its also where Blizz has been pushing pally healers w/ their mastery. There are plenty of other healer specs to play if you want ranged healing.
completely agree with you, I like the melee healer gameplay; blizzard just need to actually make it work with stuff like consecrate healing, a baseline weaker version of avenging crusader. Like you said there are plenty of other healers specs out there, pretty much all other healing specs.
I would definitely like to see judgement grant Holy Power. It’d give us a real reason to use it when healing. With that being said… at higher haste levels we might just be swimming in holy power, which could get very stressful as we have to find ways to spend it.
I understand there are some issues with it, but personally I really enjoy being in melee smacking stuff with a hammer as Holy. It’s why Paladin is my favorite healer (MoP Mistweaver was fun too).
I get why being too dependent on melee attacks is bad but I also don’t want to go the other way where our mastery then feels obnoxious by being our only reason to want to be in melee.
