Joining a Dungeon in Progress

Why is it that if you join a dungeon in progress it seems to put you at the beginning of the instance instead of wherever the rest of the group is at. Also, why do you have to wait until combat is over to enter? Super annoying & seems like a BFA thing.

They don’t have points set up to teleport you further into the dungeon. It might be a lot of work they could allocate to making more content.

They’d have to set up 100% of all dungeons in the entire game with this feature. Implement it. Check for bugs. Testing. Etc.

They could do it. They shouldn’t though. Just walk.

Probably to make it so people can’t abuse quick join.

What’s that?

I also dislike how I had to do LFR Azshara like three times before I was put into a fresh instance for the first boss in that section lol.

You mean like every older dungeon already has? And some that they went back and added them to? No, its not “more” work, its what theyre already paid to DO.

Very easy to get unqualified people credit for things they don’t deserve without this.

Pulling in a bunch of crappy alts in the last 15% of a boss fight, for example. Especially in raids.

Ok I get that I guess, but I’m talking about regular and heroic dungeons. It’s def not a deal breaker but would be a nice QOL improvement in the future.

Okay so when Mythic+ was newer, a thing people would do is run the whole thing with one group, then drop someone at the last boss to pull in a friend who would then get all the credit for basically no work. Usually it involved kicking some random, rather than using 6 friends.

I’d imagine it would happen WAY less in Normal/Heroic/Mythic0 dungeons, and it would matter less because each boss has its own loot in those, but I doubt Blizzard wants to make it possible.

Also just the principle of making sure the people who were present for a given pull are the ones doing the pull.

Edit: Scratch that first bit actually, it doesn’t make sense. Other than Mythic 0 I guess, and even then they could still do it out of combat. I got mixed up because of the Mythic+ thing.

ever considered that it’s blizz telling you not to miss leg day?

I don’t understand the start of the dungeon, sometimes people zone in on the group and sometimes they don’t. As for being in combat my guess is it falls under the same logic as trying to summon someone into a dungeon while in a fight, pretty sure its just a long sitting code for instance content to protect abuse.

Sometimes it puts new players with the group. Sometimes it doesn’t. I don’t know what the trigger for one or the other is, but it could be whether or not they’re currently in combat.

As for waiting to enter, the game basically puts the dungeon on lockdown until a boss fight is over. You can’t zone in, you can’t release. It’s presumably to keep you from just zerging bosses down.

The problem with older dungeons is that each expansion seems to have a different method of providing quests. Some dungeons give quests at the beginning. Normally players will teleport out and quickly teleport back to the questgiver at the end. But that wouldn’t work if being teleported back meant you were looking at the corpse of the last boss.

Happened to me today joined a party in progress at the entrance…I’m not familiar with the dungeon so I didn’t where to go. I ended up leaving it not wanting to waste their time, slammed with 30min wait. I know in FFXIV it has various options for groupings such as not joining a party in progress, something I think should be implemented here. IMO.
