/Join LookingForGroup

Please let everyone be aware that this channel exists. I keep seeing people advertising that darned “World” channel, which is merely a custom channel, and not an actual built-in channel like LookingForGroup. I didn’t see many people using it last stress test, and it was a shame the fake channel got a lot more attention.

You don’t have to type it in all caps, you can just do /join lookingforgroup as well.

/join lookingforgroup is the official global faction-wide channel.

Most people use world and trade chat for group finding because most people will be looking at most of the time so no reason to join a LookingForGroup channel just for a short bit to find/advertise a group then leave it afterwards.

But why join a fake channel, that spams your chat with join/leave when you should at least join the real channel? Not to mention that anyone can just put a password on it.

Most likely easier to remember and quicker to just join “World” instead of “LookingForGroup”

To each their own, but Lookingforgroup isn’t much harder to remember than world, when you’re looking for a group anyway if you’re using the channel. It doesn’t have to be capitalized.

It makes no sense to use the channel. Just needs one person to set it as a password to ruin everyone’s day, when they could’ve just used the right channel in the first place. Plus the chat spam from people joining and leaving only makes it harder to see who actually needs people for groups.

Is it a real/official global channel now? During beta it was just another custom player created channel like world.

Can’t you just do /4 ?

It’s been an official channel for multiple stress tests, it’s just that people keep touting this unofficial ‘world’ channel.

If I type /join 4, nothing happens. It just says invalid channel.

Not in Retail and I would guess not in Classic. In Retail you can change the order of the channels around in the chat settings and I believe that feature should exist in Classic as well, so the numbers mean nothing other than your personal preference. Channels go by their actual names in terms of joining and leaving.

That’s good, I hated having to use a player owned channel to do LFG stuff in beta.

Hopefully it catches on and people start to use that for finding groups primarily. Maybe blizzard should put everyone in it by default just to raise awareness of it. It’s not like it’s hard for people to leave a channel if they don’t want to be in it.

That’s why I’m trying to bring attention to it now. If people use the wrong channel off the start, it’s going to be hard to get people to switch afterwards.

They probably could add it by default if they wanted to, and let people decide to leave otherwise.

Please spread the word before/at launch :).

The reason would be so you are not crapping up a channel like trade.

LookingForGroup is an official channel. You can see official channels by right clicking on the general tab, clicking settings, and then choosing Global Channels. Here you can see LookingForGroup and click Join.

This seems to be what Balloon is referring to, in case anyone was curious -

Posting again for a friendly reminder of this ahead of the launch.

This is the thread that should have babbys and become multiple threads. Anyone spamming /trade instaed of /lookingforgroup will rightfully deserve the RCR they receive.

Hey, maybe they can make a small patch that turns it on by default.

That is actually a good idea. After all, general is on by default.
/LookingForGroup should be opt out upon login.

I remember it was on by default for a while, I forget what timeframe that was though.

Would be awesome if Blizz could automatically move all LFG spam from Trade to in there. Otherwise it’s likely there will be much RCR.
