Lately I’ve noticed this weird thing happening with Jinx (pvp talent) and idk if it’s a bug or if there’s some mechanic I’m missing.
Sometimes when I cast curse of exhaustion, it will apply exhaustion and agony, but fail to apply corruption. Usually when it fails it just fails to apply anything, but I’ve never had it partially fail.
If it a bug or am I missing some kind of mechanic that prevents corruption from applying?
If you cast a curse on a target that is immune to them, it will burn the soul shard and do nothing, sadly. For example, if you try to put exhaustion on a pally who’s got blessing of freedom up, it won’t apply exhaustion or the dots, but will waste the soul shard.
I imagine there’s some jank happening, though, if you’re seeing some dots just not applying while the rest of the effects are

Jinx wouldn’t even be needed if dots lasted for the same durations they used to for like the first 10 years of WoW.
Agony 28 secs, corruption 24secs, UA 21secs. SL 30secs.
Bring back the old dot durations!
yea ive made similar posts, however i understand why it isnt working yet i dont agree. if jinx is just on a target that is immune to your curse, you need to either use a diff curse or accept that that target cant be slowed and u will lose ALL your soul shards trying.
Welcome to world of warlocks limitations
Why the hell were the durations even nerfed???
Some of you need to re-read the post.
OP isn’t saying the curse isn’t applying, they’re saying just Corruption isn’t.
As for this issue, I’ve never experienced it.
Could be the player has a magic immunity or a dispel just so happened to go out right as it was being applied.
Yes this
I also had a weird interaction in a BG the other day where a warlock used nether ward, and my curse of tongues and agony got reflected (which is what id expect) but corruption didn’t and got applied to the warlock.
Idk if that was specifically the jinx talent doing something weird or maybe just lag/timing
