Pebbles and glass seems super rare for something you need to make components needed for everything else. Wondering if I messed up my KP’s. I put most of my points into shaping since it sounded like it would help with getting more mats. I am finding a lot of gems, but very little of the other mats.
you didn’t. i have two JCs. one of them is fully invested in the Shaping tree, including maxing out the Glass and Stone nodes, as well as their master node. glass and stone (especially high quality glass) are still extremely rare, and i barely get more on my specialized JC than i do on the one who is full Jewelry spec’d. It’s just poorly done. Similar problem enchanters have with disenchanting.

Nope going fully into prospecting doesn’t seem to help. I am leveling my JC specifically to make vials but there is no solid source of glass. Prospecting 1000 ore got me 25 glass which is an abysmal return when you need 6 per vial craft
jc is a bit of a mess right now. Patron orders are atrocious, mats are super hard to come by, and everything costs a fortune. lol

I had a suspicion and started a new JC just to test.
My JC at 85 skill with almost maxed Jewelrycrafting gets 1-2 Glittering Glass per 100 ore.
My JC at 20 skill gets 1-2 Glittering Glass per 10 ore.
Utterly idiotic that this is a thing.

So im hearing create a fresh KC just for prospecting for now for any hope of getting glass…

Same here! both JC and Enchanting suck this exp! I’m still leveling both my professions but have been thinking of changing professions. Sad you invest all this time in one or two professions just to be torn down in the next exp. I’ve spent so much gold this exp trying to get them up. Blizz you really need to fix this. Professions shouldn’t be RNG. And also as I’ve stated many times other the mining node spawns suck big time. Most days I spend hours mining only to come out with 15-25 nodes in a 4hr period.
yep! I mentioned this is another thread. I think part of the reason is as you level up the shaping tree, you get more gems from ore, but the gems aren’t worth as much as the glass.
Actually, I do remember in the other thread I asked someone who was not seeing great returns on glass to make a fresh JC and try prospecting and he said the returns wern’t any different.
i decided to check this myself, cuz i have nothing better to do.
Prospected 10,000 r1 ironclaw ore on 2 jewellers to test.
Jeweller 1, gemcutter: 105+34 skill, 0 KPs in prospecting, result:
1089 gems (amber, ruby, onyx)
951 stone
358 glass
(note: only prospected 9k ore before my sub ran out lol)
Jeweller 2, prospector, 63+18 skill, maxxed prospecting trees, result:
1504 gems (ruby, sapphire, emerald, onyx - no amber)
1030 stone
335 glass
202 crushed gemstone
so more glass on the jeweller with no prospecting skill, but i suspect the stone would work out about the same if i’d finished the last 1,000 ore!
Yea, so getting the crushed gemstone and slightly more gems makes it worth it BUT, it still seems kind of small compared to a maxxed prospecting tree, IMO.
