I can guarantee R3 gems but when someone was happy to go ahead and do it, the crafting table says I dont have enough skill points??? what? i sit at 385 with insight, and now it maxed at 353 with insight on the crafting order?

Did you have the use best mats checkbox checked? Maybe it was counting some sub-rank 3 mats in your bags.

he had to use a r3 diamond to get him over the line - where craftsim and (the fact I dont even have a diamond on me) - both say that shouldnt matter
r3 diamonds arent cheap and my mettle isnt either I just dont want to mess customers over by saying I can do it but I need you to pay for top tier mats
With only 2 “qualitied” mats in the epic gem recipes, it means that the entire mats skill component comes from those two. And for some reason it isn’t equally shared - the Diamond counts more than the rare gem. So even dropping the Diamond just to R2 costs 30ish points as you saw.

is there a way to circumvent this? I havent fully maxed my toolset or enterprising? after reset toolset will be and I’ll be dumping more points into enterprising - will that help boost the skillset so they dont need r3 diamonds?
it’s also just confusing because if I was making the gem for myself I could use both R1 mats but as soon as someone else wants one from me the skill changes? that really shouldnt matter though, skill is skill it isnt harder if I’m doing it for someone else unless that’s been baked into the code
