Jaina's Locket Griefing

The spell used by Jaina’s Locket (Portal: Dalaran) SpellID 73324 has a unique flag compared to other portal effects in game. This flag is the “Cast Time is Hidden” and it allows for the item to be used freely for griefing as it can not be tracked by WAs to know someone is trying to use the item. I can’t imagine this flag has any use as every other portal (including the Black Temple toy) doesn’t have it. Would be great for this flag to be removed so that people using the toy to grief can be removed from groups and/or blocked.

**Just to clarify for people joining in and not reading the entire thread. This is not an issue with portals in many instances, this is specifically with the usage of Jaina’s Locket that can’t be seen or tracked being used currently at S.C.R.A.P heaps in Undermine. Using an item that sole purpose is to teleport people away from a community event is what I would consider griefing the playerbase as they are trying to do said event. I’m also fine with the removal of it being able to be used at community events, but removing the “Cast Time is Hidden” flag would also work for allowing the groups to track and then remove people trying to use it in this manner.

Indeed, there is a problem, but I don’t think it’s the item in the game. Instead, it’s the item sitting in the chair.

What does it even do?

Kind of impressive to pay so little attention to the game

How exactly is it griefing? The item usage clearly states:
“Use: Creates a portal, teleporting group members that use it to Dalaran. (1 Hour Cooldown)”

Changing a spell flag for an addon to scan it seems very odd.

It opens a Northrend Dalaran portal. That’s it.

How is this a problem? Is the portal invisible or something?

It’s a manufactured problem.

People are so lazy they don’t even bother checking what portal they’re clicking they need a WA to track it :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Right so not an actual problem that needs to be fixed. Here’s a tip if you’re having issues with this, stop just randomly clicking portals whenever you see them.

Bingo. Can’t click it outside of a group anyways lol.

Sometime trolls drop portals in front of clickable things.

I suppose in a PUG it would be useful to know who did it.

aw so portal roulette type of thing. its not griefing op thought this was a pvp type of thread

The problem is people are currently using it to grief. The S.C.R.A.P. job event has a lot of items on the ground that people have to click on (or use the interact key) and if someone in the raid uses Jaina’s Locket at the same moment that someone tries clicking an object on the ground it’ll cause people to get ported to Dalaran and potentially miss the rare spawning and there’s no way to know who the griefer is

This can be remedied with a report. Report said player for game hinderance and griefing. These are literal options in the report feature.

Oh my bad didn’t see your last part. There’s no way at ALL to know eu dropped the portal???

Good luck seeing who used an item in a 40 man raid that has no cast bar.

As I said in my post there is no way to know who the griefer is, hence why OP brought up the “Cast Time is Hidden” flag.

Use the tools that Blizzard provides for managing raid members. Problem solved.

Yeah I just edited my post. This seems like it is a problem then. But blizzard isn’t gonna rework a spell and it’s id to fix it. They’ll just disable jaina’s locket.

Seems like people like you argue just for the sake of being a contrarian. If there was a way to identify the griefer OP wouldn’t be posting here. The griefer would have been removed from the group and reported for griefing
