Jaina has a brother?!?!

I am a horde player for years and just started working on the Kul’tiran rep.
During one quest series I end up in the Proudmore castle talking with Madame Proudmore, Jaina and her BROTHER! Tandred Proudmore. Where in Gods name did he come from? I have read tons of lore books, played the game for years, watched Jaina Struggle with her life and never has a brother been involved in he game , her life or the war of the Alliance. Please tell me something about this guy and why did he suddenly show up? BTW even with all the Proudmore quests he didn’t do a dam thing!

She has two brothers. Tandred and Derek Proudmoore.

Well, Derek’s been dead since the Second War and Tandred was from the non-canon tabletop RPG game.

BFA retconned his non-canon status and made him canon. Because reasons.

You’re not going crazy or anything.

I thought Derek was the dad? If Derek is the brother were is he. And why didn’t either of the brothers participate in the war for the Alliance?

That’s what happens when you go to magic college.

Daelin is the father of all three.

Incidentally, Jaina is responsible for her father’s death, which is the entire premise of the Pride of Kul Tiras storyline.

Are you sure you did these quests?

No Most the quest were with Jaina, her mom, the drunk Flynn and the SI5 guy “I saw you looking my way” guy.

How was she responsible for her dads death?

Warcraft 3. You don’t even have to play it, since the entire Jaina storyline in BFA is directly referencing her decisions at Theramore that led to her father’s death and her exile from Kul Tiras.

Ya’ll remember when we all joked it was Tandred in the MoP trailer? Good times.

I had a funny “THERE YOU ARE!” reaction seeing Tandred show up in BfA on my Ally alt.

In the Horde war campaign you find Derek’s body and he’s resurrected by Sylvanas so she can use him as a weapon to kill his family. You later free him and reunite him with Jaina.

Derek was rezzed by Sylvanas and is now accompanying Calia in her adventures. His corpse was retrieved from a shipwreck where he died at sea in the Second War.

Daelin, her father, was killed back just after the Third War when Jaina helped the Horde attack Theramore and allowed them to kill him. Daelin was trying to wipe the orcs into extinction and she didn’t want that. As a result it got her banished from Kul Tiras and disowned. Part of the storyline in BfA was us redeeming her reputation and reconnecting with her mother.

“That bloke in the red shirt over there told me I “wasn’t canon”. Well, obviously! I’m a mariner, not a cannon!”

Yeah honestly there’s a lot of retconned in family characters that, as far as to my existence didn’t exist or were major /canon characters before. Like Arthas never had a sister. Now Lightforged Boruto Menethril wants to help make tea sandwiches and take over the undead. (As a alliance, i don’t really want or understand why being the dead sister of someone who killed and raised the forsaken would give them any reason either). But she was hinted as like Calia Menethil.

Then the Windrunner Sisters. they… maybe!!??? might have existed as some comics or book characters before to give Sylvanas a plight, but i don’t recall them ever being in WC3 or WOTLK at all. You’d think Sylvanas would have remembered them or gone after the Scarlet Crusade instead or something by now. (THey’re the reason the forsaken were shunned by humanity, and tbf with arthas starting to less blame them. Maybe they actually evil, but they weren’t… evil you know as the things they pointed out the forsaken did in-story lore. Eating familes, mass npcs population exterminations. Player obv has little to do with it, but meh.)

That said Alleria Windrunner, the Stormwind annoying boss, is literally literally the literal alliance bfa resource garrison research npc. As in her whole literal purpose is to show up in the war campaign a few times foreshadowing. “Are you sure you wonderful alliance folks know what you’re doing opposing the great and wonderful Sylvanas? She may be the only one who can fight against nzoth.” It seemed like honestly blizzard was trying to set up Sylvanas / Nzoth instead or the Sylvanas /Jailor thing. Cause come on, her saurfang boom is basically identical to Corruption.

That said, basically every single lore character from WOTLK is dead or gone. The achieve for the black war bear used to be 4 npcs. (Thrall/Garrosh, Baine, Vul’Jin, Sylvanas) now it’s only 2 for horde. (Baine and… Someone forgettable?) and it’s just really sad.

I don’t get into the story since all the characters i’ve rooted for from WOTLK have either died or become mary sue worf punch fodder. WOTLK Saurfang: “Garrosh, if you ever dare question or turn the wrong way, i’ll kill you myself. Let me tell you a story, old soldier…”

Cata Garrosh: “There once was a great old soldier who taught me wisdom… Do we not the horde, fight with honor? Mr BombChildrenOrkFace. I hereby RELIEVE YOU OF YOUR DUTIES, VIA BEING DROPPED OFF A CLIFF”

MOP Garrosh: “PANDAS!?!?! I HATE PANDAS!!!” (Definitely a hero imo)

See, those characters were great, or at least, if you hated them, you loved to hate them. Sylvanas makes me groan and want to forget the story was ever happening and take a drink and forget all of BFA. All of BFA makes me want to forget BFA’s story ever happened. All the characters are wasted as sue fodder, the whole entirity of the horde campaign was interesting… until it turned out the Alliance war campaign WAS the horde war campaign but you followed Saurfang the whole time.

I just want to forget BFA exists and remember WOTLK without Saurfang exploding. WoTLK Saurfang and WoTLK arthas were so much better than Wasted bolvar and BFA’s SueVanas.

…I have absolutely no idea what this essay is about, and am now wildly confused.

The only way I’d tolerate that THING showing up is if you’re having a nightmare

I’ll be fair there, I honestly don’t remember Tandred actually doing anything. Like, he gets mentioned throughout Stormsong Valley a few times, and when you finally deal with the Tidesage’s issues someone says something like “Finally, Tandred and the boys can come back!”, and then he gets like 3 lines and promptly disappears until you save Jaina, where he reappears, has another 3 lines, and vanishes once more…

He didn’t. I’m referencing OP’s confusion about Daelin and Derek.

Must be some Vision of N’zoth quality nightmare. I would pity anyone that went through one of those.

Ah, that’s what I get for speed-reading the thread.
