Trying to complete the ‘Jailer of the Damned’ quest line, part of the Vol’jin chain. Take the portal to ICC, confront the LKI and the cinematic end…then nothing. No way to do the next object and stuck on’0/1 Escape the Frozen Throne’.
- Tried jumping off platform, get ported back on, no way to die
- Hearth out, don’t get credit, get back to ICC, still stuck on platform
- Abandon, go back to Nazmir, get the quest again, repeat to end of cinematic…and nothing. Won’t move past this objective and no way to complete it.
Please fix.
EDIT: title changed to ‘Jailor’ to match quest text (h/t poster) and recent hit fix patch notes say this is fixed. I have not tried it yet though.

Can confirm this to be bugged. I’m having the same issue and the same resolution steps mentioned above don’t work for me either.
To add, I’ve even tried /reload ui just in case it was an interface thing, to no avail. Also, logging out/logging back in doesn’t work either.

If you’re in War Mode, opt out of it. Had to do it with some other quests, although that was a while ago.
I just tried again (reacquire quest, take the death gate and finish the cinematic) and mostly the same thing although I could see a ghoul for a couple of seconds that then faded from view. Stuck as per above with no way to achieve the quest objective of escaping.
Just turned off WM and going back to try one more time…
EDIT: same thing - have now tried WM on and off and in both I end up stuck in ICC with no way to finish the quest. I saw a ghoul again who faded within 1-2 seconds and then there is no one up there but me and the other folks getting bugged as well.

Yup Same issue. Have tried from 2 different accounts with and without addons, letting the cinematic play out and escaping and all the tricks above to no avail. Did the other quest in Stormheim with no issue. This one seems to be a phasing issue because I also see a couple of old-school ghouls for a couple of seconds and then. nothing. I’ve gotten a couple of generic troops standing by where the gate should be but those despawn after a while.

I’m having the same problem and so far I haven’t seen Blizzard speak out about the bug.
I already opened a ticket, who knows how they move to solve this problem.
The way is to keep opening tickets until they answer.

Sylvanas broke the Helm… and the quest.
If you’re able to, you might want to change the title of the post to “Jailor of the Damned Quest Bug” since “Jailer” might be harder to find for others having the same issue since the quest uses “Jailor”.

Same problem here. No mix of disabling addons, switching warmode, relogging, dropping/restarting quest, etc seemed to make a difference.

Made a ticket and got the standard troubleshooting reply crap. Did the UI reset and still no damn change. Sigh…

Stuck on the same quest myself as well… Just came back to the game to try and get caught up before Shadowlands too. There’s always some issue to deal with whenever I sign back up for WoW. Did this just happen or has this been going on for awhile now? Possibly due to the recent patch I would assume.
Edit : I made a ticket and got the same BS automated response… Typical of you Blizzard/Activision. Shame on you, fix the issue and actually take pride, care and consideration in your consumer base.

I just came back to the game and possibly considering putting time back onto my account, but, I’m working on the story line to get all caught up with everyone else before Shadowlands release and I’m at the part where you speak to Bolvar about Vol’jin’s spirit and there’s no portal out of here. I’ve tried logging in and out, restarting the game, abandoning the quest and coming back, disabling my addons and disabling War Mode to no avail. Could someone possibly please help me get past this small bump in the road? I’d greatly appreciate the assistance, thank you very much."

Had the same issues as the other players… I was able to finished the quest today.
Here’s what I did…
- Abandoned the questline
- Reset my computer, log back in
- Grabbed the quest again
- Kill every spawn in the instance at least once, this is from previous experience a bugged spawn can cause issues whenever a instance switches over
- Press Esc and skipped the cut scene.
Afterwards the ghouls and death gate back to Bwonsomdi spawned.

Killing everything in there at least once seemed to work for me as well. Very nice, thanks a bunch, Madblazin.
NP, glad to help, it was a prevalent problem when they introduced phasing in WotLK, a bugged spawn would cause issues.

The hot fix works ( for me). I only killed a couple of aboms and skipped the rest and it worked fine now.
Not to necro this post, but my bug happened on 1/17/21. I tried this method a couple times and it did not work.
After the cut scene, the ghouls would not spawn and instead there was the updated scene with Bolvar or whoever and all the deathknights. I think it’s because I had the new shadowlands quest that they automatically give you. So, I abandoned it and for a second the ghouls came back and the portal changed to purple. But I wasn’t fast enough. I had to spam abandon the quest and just let Archerus do his talking so it didn’t give it to me again so fast. Then I was able to take the purple portal back to Bwomsamdi and got credit.
