So let’s assume everything happening with Sylvanas and Torghast is leading up to his escape, he gets to Oribos to resume his place as the Arbiter (maybe even killing the Winter Queen) and then he’s well and truly free, but with access the the armor of the Arbiter he finally reveals his true form as Zovaal and we realize he isn’t some bald big manlike dude but is the actual whole dang god of death (as we see his silhouette from the reveal trailer) that is coming to DESCEND through the hole in the sky into Azeroth? !!! If that is the case then the implications for the future are huge!
If BfA is anything to go by, the implications are 2 old zones revamped into daily quest hubs.
This is SL though, so it’ll probably just be 1 zone: icecrown.
That’s the interesting thing here I agree. Presumably from hints we’ve seen he’s getting to Oribos in the finale of the raid. So that’s that whole arc done and it’s only 9.1. The fight is surely coming to Azeroth at some point, but what are the future zones and raids going to be? Stopping him for sure, but like how and where? We already took out his lieutenants and HQ.
Everything beyond Oribos is so unpredictable it’s hard to even guess a direction. Which is pretty cool and fun to speculate!
I’ve been thinking more and I think it def has to be about sword of Sargeras in some way. Someone had a theory the power of the Jailer was split by the Titans and half the power went to Azeroth and the other half to Argus. Argus was killed. We showed up at Antorus just as he discover this whole thing happening, we killed Argus for the Jailer, Sargeras was a pawn of the dread lords, but just before he went down he staked the planet with his sword. Death comes physically in the sense of the sword killing Azeroth and metaphorically in the sense of Zovaal coming to kill Azeroth to regain his full power. Maybe even something to do with Yogg Saron saying he was the god of death as if to say he took Zovaal’s place?? Who knows but next expansion may be gigantic in some way
In hindsight…that time period was a high water mark for the expansion thus far…
And on top of that with the dread lords looking like some big villains now they can get into Azeroth through the roof of the world, the light attacking Revendreth is maybe the foreshadowing of the light coming in through the crack and at some point the void too if those forces can get into the shadowlands and pour in through this hole
