FL’s ability redesign is half baked and lazy.

Important things shouldn’t be tied to projected textures - but they keep doing it. I know some dungeon/raid mechanics wont show up if the option is turned off. As to which one’s I cant remember now since swapping to my new pc.

My partner died in S1’s SmBG to one of those abilities that didnt show up, he turned Projected Textures on but also has lag now. This game is so poorly optimized now it’s sad.

I don’t expect them to change it wth how lazy they have been lately tbh but I hope they do for you OP!

Their answer will be to buy a better PC. Several raid bosses have major FPS drops due to CPU usage and even though most of them get fixed throughout the expac, it’s too little too late.

the old Faeline Stomp trails visual is working fine on Projected Texture disabled and its clearly visible

Shame they couldn’t make the new one work like that, or didn’t care/think to do so. Given the lazy implementation of the ability and it’s visual being not even monk themed outside of the color I am going to guess they just decided to take the lazy route or they dont care. You could try a bug report but they will tell you what Joh said " to upgrade your laptop/pc "

Like I said: Important things should always be visible on low settings and optimized to be visible for low end systems, means more people playing and enjoying the game. ( my enjoyment went down significantly when they released the one raid boss in S2 that always lagged out no matter the settings, I also had turned off that setting in s1 only to find in m+ there are enemy abilities that will one shot you and you wont even see it coming unless that setting is on, so depending on your system and if it is even a bit out of date you chose the lag vs not seeing certain abilities at all, it’s a huge issue )

They seemed to understand this for a good 3/4 of the game’s lifetime. Things changed in BFA and the game isnt as optimized or smooth on lower end systems anymore, and it’s been getting worse since. Which is sad because not everyone can afford a new 800+ dollar PC that is specifically able to play wow’s spaghetti code perfectly every time they drop an expansion.

WoW’s code is pretty un-optimized now a days and people report issues even on newer end systems, so them saying that is a pretty lazy solution to the problem but it washes their hands of the issue, so it’s smart.

I have other/newer games that play better w/ high graphics compared to wow on low graphics. ( I just bought a new pc before december and it runs bigger games better than wow, it’s just those games care to optimize their code/etc and make sure they run on the majority of systems/loadouts )

Blizz’s excuses are kinda lazy, like most of their other design choices lately.

I suggest turning the option on when in an instance, and off when outside of an instance. It’s not a permanent fix and doesnt help if you lag out in the instance - but might help get you through Dragonflight/s3/s4. You could try optimizing your laptop’s settings depending on the make or get an ssd - but that only got me so far before I gave up and bought a new pc. ( my “gaming” laptop was only like 4 ish years old too which was the sad part )
