I’ve heard mixed opinions about the removal of Jadefire Stomp for mistweaver (yes, you can still get it, kind of; more on that in a moment).
Some people are glad JFS is gone, since you no longer have to stand in an ill-defined area to get healing out of it.
Others miss the sound and visual, as well as the extra button it brought to the rotation. I fall into this camp - without JFS, the rotation feels very dull and visually underwhelming.
In the current talent tree, you can get JFS by taking Emporer’s Elixir, but it’s radically different than it was before:
It’s not part of the core rotation.
It only does damage.
The visual flashes briefly before disappearing.
You only get to use it if you don’t want to use Thunder Focus Tea for another ability. Normally you’d use Thunder Focus Tea on Renewing Mist or Enveloping Mist, so in practice, you don’t get to use JFS all that often.
I think it’s possible to keep the cool factor of JFS while removing the ambiguity of where to stand - keep JFS the way it was, but instead of having the stomp shoot forward, have it shoot outward from the monk in a circle. This way, it would function similarly to Consecration or Efflorescence.
Its a cool ability, could easily be worked into all three talent trees but they keep implementing it in the worst possible ways.
It even fits the theme. There are loads of games, books, anime, etc that have Fighter type characters that kick/punch/stomp the ground so hard it sends out shockwaves. For whatever reason the Monk designers are like “that looks cool lets make it worse”
I do miss the button as well. The regular rotation feels quite dull without it and I’d love to see it come back in a more active format. However, some points you’ve made are not exactly correct.
This is a known bug - it should transfer to healing via Ancient Teachings.
Most all Thunder Focus Tea uses in a setting with Jadefire Stomp (i.e. M+) are on Rising Sun Kick. Nearly 0% chance you’d use it on Renewing Mist in keys since the empower on ReM doesn’t really do much for you anyways in M+. Especially with Emperor’s Elixir, TFT+RSK gives you a a pretty nice burst CD when Jadefire Stomp activates to heal your group (and becomes even stronger in AoE since it hits up to 5 enemies). Definitely hard to tell now while its bugged (and why I’ve not recommended running it until its fixed) but its a consideration for post-fix.
