Jadefire Stomp is unfun

The ability itself is entirely unfun and goes against the WoW formula in two different ways.

  1. It is a ground area that the player must stay within for a time period or be at half effectiveness.

This has been a theme of abilities that have nearly all but been removed, as it is inherently unfun to be stuck to a spot. In modern raiding and M+, tanks move mobs around quite a bit as is necessary. Having to recast JFS over and over because of movement is awful but the worst case is not getting a proc and being UNABLE to move the JFS.
100% uptime of JFS is expected and so missing even moments feels bad, where obtaining 100% uptime on JFS feels like that’s just normal.
There is only feels bad.

  1. It is just a buff GCD. It sucks to have to press JFS. It’s an ability that does nearly nothing and yet is a mandatory buff maintenance.

WoW developers have said multiple times that they aim to get away from abilities that are upkeep buffs. It adds no flavor to the spec, it adds no flavor to the rotation.
Once again - the expectation is 100% uptime. Obtaining that is just expected.
FAILING to keep 100% uptime feels AWEFUL. The time you do not have the buff your effectiveness is nearly ZERO. (245% Transfer vs 30% Transfer)
Worse - since it’s a ground buff, I can’t even cast it early and extend the duration, keeping 25%. LIKE EVERY OTHER BUFF IN THE GAME. (Rejuvenation 12-second duration, cast on a target with it already present, will extend the Rejuv to up to 15 seconds, keeping 3 seconds of the previous buff)

Conclusion: Jadefire Stomp is inherently unfun and only contributes unhappy moments, never happiness. I’m NEVER excited to press it - only angry at myself if I mess up and miss the buff timer by even a second.

Action: Make Jadefire Stomp’s effects on enabling FistWeaving passive.
It would not change the numbers for Fistweaving in any way. It would make the spec smoother and more fun, RAISING the skill floor for new players while doing nothing for the skill ceiling.
FistWeaving playstyle is a core part of MistWeaver and making this type of change would be great for the class fantasy. Our power shouldn’t come from a 15 second ground buff.

You keep the jadefire stomp buff when you leave jadefire stomp. They already fixed this

You lose the Double Hit on Tiger Palm if you leave the JFS area, which accounts for ~20% loss.

Not immediately though right? Maybe I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure you hang onto the double tp buff for a while after stepping out. Not the full duration but typically you can run back in or put down a new one before that’s a problem

I’d verify but I’m currently in a group looking for keys on my main so can’t check ATM

JFS for Mistweaver is fun, imo.

You are correct - the buff lasts 8 seconds it looks like.
Admittedly, that cuts down on point 1’s stance slightly.

It’s so horrible in pvp

It can definitely be wonky with the right combo of crap hitting the fan from time to time. It could probably be smoothed out even more for those kinds of situations

Agreed.

Get more familiar with the dungeons and know when it can be laid out and when the group is expected to move and this isn’t an issue.

It really is, it’s probably like the second dopamine button next to Thunder Focus Tea > JCL for me lol.
