But again, never got a piece of loot after that first kill.
SILENCE! The algorithm has spoken… er, um, finished processing.
I’m not worried. Sounds like you are though
Nope, I found out about this whole thing after a guild member posted the wowhead suspension article in Discord. I have always killed the world boss once when there is a purple marker, rolled for my bonus, then left and repeated the process with my alts.
Still, I think handing out account suspensions is a seriously stupid move on Blizzard’s part. Making players the villain to other players deflects from the fact that they failed to do their job in the first place.
No offense intended, and I’ll apologize beforehand if you take offense, but you and everyone else knows, or should know, by now you can only kill a raid level mob once a week for loot, twice if you don’t use your bonus roll the first time around. If you get a ban, you asked for it. Although, just removing the extra loot and not returning the seals used(if any) would be enough IMO.
Semper Fi!
Better forward that to the devs since they cannot remember it.
Most people probably knew the risk, but there are no doubt some players who actually do not devote their entire lives to WoW who had no clue and just picked up on what other people were doing.
Exactly. Fix the issue retroactively, but suspensions and bans for this are just a smokescreen. We know who really caused the problem.
As always, there are two sides to everything and many people lack the ability to see the opposing side’s view when there is a difference of opinion. Part of integrity is doing what is right because it is what is right, even when no one is looking.
Semper Fi!
BS. All games will have bugs. Allowing a bug to give someone else a HUGE advantage over other players is the WORST possible response. People took advantage of this, and now they’re suspended/banned. This isn’t Blizzard demonizing people, it’s people demonizing themselves by cheating.
Bull. I had no idea crack was illegal, i just smoked what everyone else was smoking! Doesn’t work in real life, and it doesn’t work here.
Ha, okay. But if it happened to me it do not expect me to keep paying Blizzard for the privilege.
No big deal. Blizzard’s Item Restoration process is fully automated these days and super easy to use. In less than 5 minutes you can bring back anything you scrapped or disenchanted even months ago.
That’s your choice shrug frankly i’d be happier with fewer cheaters around.
For me someone would have to intentionally cheat to be labeled a “cheater”.
You used the real world criminal justice system as a counterpoint to my argument. I hate to break it to you, but real world law is ripe with examples of intent being a requirement for conviction.
Because changing a PetID# which is like a 9 character string is the same thing as fixing a World Boss.
they went a little overboard and just took everything he dropped, weather it was the first kill, coin rolls etc. i couldnt even get the coin roll option to come up until the 3rd time i killed him
Harsh for those of us who didn’t exploit it and just killed him now and don’t get a chance to use the re-roll for the loot at all.
I had the same issue. Killed Ivus once, never got a chance to bonus roll.
It won’t be 1/2 or 3/4. It won’t be 1/4. If I had to guess, I’d wager maybe 4-5% of people did the exploit, if that. Just because there were a lot of groups doing it in LFG doesn’t mean everyone was. Besides, look at M+. Still typically a lot of groups but it’s very apparent M+ has been in a struggling state with far lower participation than expected.
I also seriously don’t understand how people like you defend the exploit. It wasn’t some little thing of “Hm, I didn’t get credit, let me do it again to try” or “/logs out, /logs in next day. Uh…didn’t I do that? Guess not if its up”.
You had to log out and then log back in. The people doing it knew 100% it wasn’t intended. Killing a boss, hundreds upon hundreds of times being eligible for loot each and every kill. Surely you aren’t dense enough to seriously think that was intended. How any honest player would even fathom that idea is beyond me.
They also aren’t suspending everyone who killed Ivus a couple of times for bonus rolls. They are targeting the people who abused the hell out of the exploit and killed him dozens of times. Those people? Why yes, a suspension is good. Teach them behavior like that(by that I mean, DELIBERATELY ABUSING AN EXPLOIT YOU KNOW ISN’T INTENDED) isn’t a wise choice. Possibly make them better, more honest players. And if not, next time they decide to abuse an exploit it may cost them more than simply a suspension.
It’s not hard to be a honest player, even whilst making mistakes. But if you wan’t to go out of your way to abuse an obviously unintended bug, well then I have no sympathy if you get your account suspended/banned.
Seriously
I ran around darkshore seeing rare portraits over and over again, but its my fault for not knowing I can roll more than once.
If any of you really ever “get on the call with your lawyer”:
Please, for the love of all that is holy, tape/youtube that or something. I need a good laugh.
Wrong actually. Intent just makes it a different, more serious crime. Manslaughter isn’t murder, but it’s still a crime, and you still go to prison for it.
