This has got to be the dumbest mount to get a hold of.
One person says it spawns X. Another says Y. Someone says it spawns at tree level, one says above the great worms, another says at the height of Alani. No one actually knows for sure where it spawns.
But what I do know for sure is even when I spam my /tar and /use macro I get to target the thing for less than a second after it spawns and it’s gone, followed by someone shouting how they got the mount.
The problem here is that 1. it has nothing to do with skill, just whoever is at the exact spawn location and spams their macro fastest, meaning those who use external macro programs will win out and 2. I’ve never actually seen it, so if not for people spamming in chat and going to farm the lasso I would not even have a clue it existed.
It would be nice if a new mount would be something other than this, it is a nice idea to see it flying around and have to catch it, but that is far from working as intended.
I don’t trust others enough to do this with a group. I just got this alone by myself the other day. It spawned way below where I expected when I was told the exact opposite. Thankfully, it will eventually loop back to its original spawn point and I was able to capture it at that moment.
I have, some of them show old information from the PTR so it may be different, but when you go in game every second person tells you something different, even those who have the mount vary in what they tell you.
And on places like Wowhead the coord information is not all the same, some are putting you some distance away from where everyone camps, which is another thing in that some people camp high, some low, some off to the side.
I caught it on my macro once today, flew instantly over to the gate of the setting sun and nothing, it never made it’s way around. The wonders of being on a high population server, there is always someone in the exact spot to grab it before you even get to see it.
I just waited In the general area 26 50 I believe it was. It did spawn way up high tho I’m not sure of the exact height and from what I saw a good number of us waiting got it. At least from seeing people call it out I mean, tho I did show up later than 4 or 5 other people.
This is the video I found with info on where it pats; the screen shows a map a little past the 3 min mark. May be 3:30 don’t quite remember. Wowhead doesn’t show the map last time i checked.
The spawn location is fixed, and can be found with any coordinates addon. The height is what most people have issue with, but you have a little bit of wiggle room with the lasso range, or simply trial and error.
It lasts for 8-10s after the first person gets it. He also stops moving during these 8-10s. Otherwise, he does 2 rounds around the mogu region, lasting for a few minutes.
The other rares need skill? Must be hard refreshing the lfg and then zerging them down in a raid.
Again, you have some leeway with the lasso range, and a 8-10s window. The raid that i got it, 30 of us managed to grab it. This was on the second day of the patch.
No on in my group used macro programmes. We all just manually clicked it every 2-3 seconds for the 1-2 hours. It’s not as daunting as you might think it to be; someone was watching House reruns while doing it, and i was listening to audiobooks.
Neither have it, but that’s because there’s typically 40+ people camped around his spawn point, and his model isn’t raid-boss huge. That’s why you use a macro. NPCscan also helps with alerting you to the spawn.
Like what? Spending months trying to get Rustfeather? Or even better, that same % drop (nearly zero) on a random 6-18 hour spawn like Silent Glider? Or how about the years people have spent trying to get the Time-lost drake? I suppose all those are easier to you than just spamming a macro for 2 hours and getting a guaranteed mount?
If that was the case, then he would have had a random spawn point, not a fixed one.
There great thing about this is that you have a LONG time to get the mount. Because guess what there is nothing new to do until Shadowlands…we’ll I mean except to go watch the last cinematic multiple times to soak up how epic it is.
This is incorrect, I just than targetted the thing, cast my full 2 second lasso cast and didn’t get it and I sit at 17MS ping so that has nothing to do with it.
By the time I cast I turned around and nothing to be seen, it despawned that fast. And I know I didn’t miss it, one of my friends was flying in the exact same spot I was, spamming the exact same macro I have, and he managed to get it.
Knowing very well there will be 50 people camping it at any given time with everyone spamming the same macro that it comes down to nothing but luck.
I have the lasso but quickly gave up on camping it. Got more chance of getting the 0.1% drop mounts than fighting 20 other people and those stupid flying debuff worms.
WoW really is a game where people farm ugly reskins of 5 year old mounts because the carrot on the stick is essentially… “the game”.
I just love it. <3
I got the mount randomly. My friend invited me to a group whilst I was around 30 odd other people who were doing the same thing. They weren’t even in Vale… Then I phased out and went into a new one. Everyone dissapeared. I was so angry and left the group, told them I was p/o’ed.
Next thing I know, the damn thing spawns in the new phase, I’m the only one there… Didn’t know you had to dismount and simultaneously use the lasso. So I chased it to the bridge, ahead of it. Dismounted. Used it.
Now I have the damn ugly thing I’ll never use again after this patch.
You’re much better camping it alone during off hours. At least if you miss it during the inital spawn, you can just wait until it flies back. Other people are just gonna make it harder for you.
And its definitely more like 5 seconds after the first leash that it stays put unlike the 10 seconds that most people are saying.
Well I now know this is also incorrect after seeing it on my map after I targetted it and than on my screen when I turned to look where he was coming from, it was much closer to the worms than first thought, and a fair bit further north than where most were saying and where everyone camps.
You see what I mean when I say no one really knows where it is?
