How do we install new sounds for guns or w/e? I’ve tried using Curseforge installer. I’ve done it manually by putting “sound” in data. Then I tried retail/interface/addons/Sound
And my Sen’Jin Beakblade still sounds like a bb gun. Help! Thanks in advance.

I can’t remember exactly when, something is telling me mid BFA but I’m not sure, but ever since then the WoW client no longer has the ability to directly replace sound files. I think they said it had something to do with stopping datamining. The only thing you can do is use an addon to mute the specific in game sounds, and another addon to play your own sounds when abilities are activated.
I miss the old gun sounds…

If that is the case, that sucks bad. I’ll keep looking, if I find any way to work around this (without breaking ToS), I’ll update this.

This is correct. The best you can do now is with an addon silences the original sounds and then plays the old sounds in reaction to autoshot, which isn’t as good because it doesn’t sync up quite right.
The decision to remove audio editing was bad, full stop. I used to replace gun sounds myself, as well as remove the battleground ending sounds because doing that helped me get less titled when losing BGs. For a while I was also reverting some rogue ability sounds to their Vanilla versions because I find them more audible.

I used Curseforge to install ‘OldGunSounds’ addon, and I logged back in and it works. I don’t know why it worked this particular time, but I have my beloved “bang” back to my rifles!!
There’s another mod called ‘M1Garand’, and even has the “ping” of the stripper clip. lol
