I've Stopped Reporting Group Finder Ads

Reporting them is ineffective. They just keep coming back. If you do a 15-15 search in dungeons, you’ll get about 20 ads. Blizzard needs to automatically block ads using keywords like WTS, since we can’t do that ourselves.

There’s an add on for that specifically no?

It won’t work in the group finder. It only parses chat channels.

And this was so important that it needed its own PSA?

That works to pretty well to filter out the spam in LFG. It also has some additional filters you can apply.

Now that their authenticator requirement doesn’t stop this can we allow anyone to just post groups again lol

Well according to Blizzard’s own rules, they should not advertising sales in group finder. They have their own damn channel just for this but of course unless Blizzard actually starts enforcing the rules, no one is going to follow them.

It doesn’t matter how many you report, they’ll always come back. I’m not wasting my energy on something that’ll never be fixed.

Well anyone can post groups, you just can’t use the custom text option without one. But I do agree, seeing that is really no longer effective it probably should be removed.

I really think reports as well as in game suggestions go nowhere.

I used to think that the repeat offenders were probably coming back under new names, since the groups that profit off of stolen accounts and ads like that aren’t above dumping a bit more money into it.

But no, I watched it for a while and it was the same names, over and over and over again. I have noticed an uptick in the amount of people saying that they were hacked and the first thing that the people who stole their account did was add an authenticator, though.

This is my attitude. I’m here to play the game not act as a hall monitor.

Yeah exactly, I’m not the principal punishing students, I’m not the police officer, I am not anything. I am just a player.

We were told at the start of Shadowlands that removal of access to the premade tab in the group finder for sub level 50’s was necessary for elimination of spam carry ads in the group finder by level 1’s. It didn’t make any difference whatever, even for a day. But sub 50’s still can’t use the group finder to do elite quests or form groups for any reason. So maybe the whole point was to force levelers to solo elite quests.

The only result of reports of sales in the group finder is that the offending ad disappears from your view for the duration of your play session.
