but Druid just seems extra interesting to me, for the versatility and variety, it is like 4 different classes in one. sounds like the perfect class for someone who can’t ever decide on a main, you know?
What exactly is appealing about the lore and class fantasy of Druid though? Of Nature-based classes in general?
Druid and Shaman mains, help me out here. How did the class fantasy of your class hook you, originally?
I will say that I am attracted to the idea of being able to shapeshift in combat, but as I understand it, it doesn’t quite work like I envision it(where I would be shifting multiple times in a fight depending on how the fight is going and what’s needed). it’s more or less you pick one form, specialize in it and don’t use the others at all. right?
Yeah I always want to play druid-type classes in most games because they typically are very versatile and have good mechanics, but then I can’t really get into them from a roleplaying perspective.
druid is one of the reasons i started playing wow bc of resto being a different type of healer than im normally use to. the other healers i played that were pretty dif is 3.0 ast from xiv, and tera’s mystic. good times.
also being able to have all bases covered is nice as druid. wish all classes had every role spec.
but im not too interested in the shapeshifting part of druid lol.
Different strokes for different folks. Some like traditional sorcery. Others prefer Dark magic. Maybe some like fighting the odds and splitting skulls with just an axe in a world dominated by magic.
Lol… my husband has seasonal allergies too. One year it was so bad he ended up having to mow the lawn in a gas mask. The neighbors sure gave us some kind of looks after that.
The druid fantasy was sold to me right away with that one night elf turning into a cat to move faster and leap down a cliff. It was beautiful, it was magical, and it sold me on something new beyond what other video games offered to me at the time.
There is something incredible about being a jack-of-all trades to me, the idea you are pouncing from the shadows to rake your enemies before dashing away, rooting them as you pelt them with magic, then when your foe finally reaches you they are easily crushed under bear paws.
Another big things is I love animals, in WoW I never taking skinning and always try to be non-disruptive to the nature nearby. I’ll do things like RoP Para just to pick a flower when a Rising Sun Kick would near one shot. And that love of caring sort of extends to loving healing, it’s great, it’s fun but even as a healer I’m not locked into one playstyle. I can pelt with magic if unsafe, or I can turn into a cat because cat is for fight.
Believe it or not I didn’t even make it that far! I was confused by the finicky rules to casting Wrath, got upset I couldn’t be a cat and quit for a week! q.q
That part of the trailer really entranced me too way back in the day. Ultimately though it was seeing an in game warrior go vroom vroom, and charging face first into some gnolls that made me turn to my friend and say, “What the heck was that and where do I get one!?”
Then of course after rolling my awesome warrior I died like a fool constantly whenever I didn’t have pocket heals. Good times.
It’s not just leaves and trees, it’s also animals, stars, gods, drust, loa, fire, wind, or just the race you’re playing. The fantasy for your own character does not HAVE to just revolve around the old sleepy Druids you see in game. They can be anything you do like plus being a Druid like a bug collector or alchemist. Lol
You kinda need macros, but you can shapeshift during combat if you want to.

Though I dont see the point because the off spec forms are pretty much always inferior…ie using cat form to attack when youre running guardian, etc. Ive never found it to be any advantage at all.
Cool to look at though.
