I've hit a gearing wall in M+ that did not exist in Dragonflight

So my item level is 615 and my M+ score is ~2400.
I only need a couple more 10s to push past 2500 which was my goal every szn last xpac.

The problem is I still need over 400 Runed Harbinger Crests for gear upgrades. That’s like… 30+ runs of 4-7s?! Which I do not need for rating. It’s also ELOpughell.

I’ve basically been pushing +10s but getting Gilded crests which I can’t even use yet since most my gear is Champion still. Again, 400 RHC is needed lol.

This never happened to me in Dragonflight so whatever systems have changed since then need to be reverted.

Not on this toon. Got AOTC like 2 months ago on another character.
Guild has totally fizzled out quick this tier. No one is around to keep clearing H raid.

Well that’s what helped me get through the wall you’re describing. You get shots at some gear and runed crests from first 6, and runed+gilded on the last two.

Edit; and I pugged all the way to AoTC. Only joined a guild recently to try mythic.

Edit edit: I got hero track from vault (delves and heroic raid) and heroic raid itself

Yeah, makes sense. That’s ~60 runed per week.
This wall is definitely bigger because im pushing M+ on an alt and not the toon i started the xpac with.

Or… you can run 8-10s for Gilded crests and get 7 pieces of 636 gear.

You not needing it for rating is irrelevant if ilvl is your goal.

Is your main done with runed crest? There’s an achievement you get that allows all your alts to upgrade for 10 crests per upgrade instead of 15, should make this wall much easier to hop over. Or maybe the number you’re saying counts this discount already :open_mouth:

Just craft the pieces, that’s what I am doing on my BDK alt. I’m not running lower keys when i can reasonably farm 8-10 range.

That’s still 52.5 timed runs to collect those crests.

For me and you that’s probably not that extreme. I probably did that many keys across m toons this week, but I’ve got a rotating cast of guildies who carry and get carried in various keys throughout the week.

For people stuck in queue for 20-30 minutes per key that’s a daunting number. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just saying that being honest about it surely leads to the conclusion that it’s a LOT of catch up an alt to obtain the crests you need. I don’t think it’s as simple as “just get 7 crafted pieces /forehead,” for a lot of players.

It is a lot, even for me. However, if ilvl is your goal and not content progression then that’s what you need to do. What the OP is doing now by farming Runed crests in 7s is a bigger waste of time than going straight for the Gilded since he can and is already doing 8+ keys.
