A goodly number of people do… even in this economy…
Just trying to clarify your reply because I might be misunderstanding it. Are you saying that Blizzard will lose 50% of their subscribers because they are now offering a 1-year option?
I liked WoD.
Maybe they simply wanted to add this new option. Other games have it, ESO being one that comes to mind. Quit crying.
Yep, just cooking the books for Q1 and Q2 to show #s for those board bonus checks. I bet you not a single board member even knows what a Feldrake is.
My condolences, that has to be the worst disability.
i wont be doing it. I like to be able to say enough at any point and walk. Im kind of waiting to see if the microsoft deal goes through or if eu some how blocks it before i do like term subs
Literally just taking advantage of crippling FOMO a ton of players have to shore up sub numbers.
That way, when the players completely evaporate a month or two after launch, they’ll still be locked in unless they cancel their sub, but Blizzard will have the money by then, so it won’t matter.
12-months is the best value sub, but those mounts are UGLY. Give some transmog and toys or something, jeez.
I’ll side with Blizzard here and say don’t conflate harder promo’ing with a bad product. It could just be the company feeling pressure to monetize.
I suspect a lot of the “bad feeling about Dragonflight” existed before the announcement of the promotion. In other words – fitting the evidence to a predetermined conclusion.
Only SLs can take that title away from WoD.
My guess is they know a LOT of players take breaks after a while.
Lock them in so the subs dont lapse.
They need to sweeten the deal a LOT more than this to get me to pay more than 30 days at a time again.
The $$$ cost is fine…give me a really cool dragon mount if you want me to spend that kind of money up front
I still think the expansion abandoned halfway through its lifecycle is worse than Shadowlands.
touché…
It is very close though; I just think Shadowlands eeks out with more content overall than my Facebook game simulator.
As time goes on I’m increasingly convinced that becoming publicly tradable is one of the worst things that can happen to a company in terms of ethics and product quality.
I have doubts that I’ll ever be in such a position, but if I were the owner of a company I don’t think I’d ever take it public. Screw having to to cater to the whims of chronically myopic shareholders.
I don’t know WTF they are thinking the price needs to either come down on the 12 month subscription, or they need to toss in a WoW token or 2 something to make it a deal. At the moment there is no incentive to buy a year!
Right now there is no reason to pay more then 6 months.
It was done for BFA if I recall but it was 6 months, and more importantly at the time those that already had 6 months subscriptions got the reward which was the pirate ship type mount back then.
My other one is whats the shadow bunny in both the advertising pictures. Was wondering if it was something new not announced? Cant find anything but to think it is just a click bait add.
Seems like convenience for lower price deal. It might just be a way to help retain a player base in an oncoming recession. I think they realize people will probably kick their pleasures to the curb if money gets tight.
touchy. Tushy?
