I've got a bad feeling about Dragonflight after seeing the year sub deal

Have they ever done this before? I thought 6 months was usually the norm, why are they offering this? I don’t know if it displays a lot of confidence in the product to me

Yes, during Cataclysm.

Oh yeah, but that was during a failing expansion that saw a massive drop off of players so they rolled out the Annual pass to mitigate the… oh no.

I don’t think it was as bad as Warlords of Draenor…

That describes pretty much every expansion after Wraith…but they only did the annual pass in Cata

They haven’t changed any of their marketing, or dev practices, so yeah DF will just be more of the same.

Previous contract was sub for 1 year and you get MOP beta access, diablo 3 for free, and Tyraels horsy.

Could just be that they’re trying to stabilize subscriptions beyond what’s possible through content releases alone… the playerbase is voracious after all and there probably isn’t any amount of content that’s practical to produce that will keep everybody consistently subscribed.

I remember them regretting this one since it meant that there were far more players playing the MoP beta than the beta servers could support, meaning they had to burn a bunch of cash on spinning up several extra beta servers. Probably won’t ever see that bonus again.

All the mounts suck in there, the only good one is the purple and blue bug thingy

I kinda like the murloc one but that’ll just be in the cash shop next year

Telix is a very good boy.

I don’t see a year sub deal what are they offering for a year sub?

So don’t buy it, I will never understand the whining about stuff like this…

I think people need to stop thinking this is bad. Almost every MMO game has an option where you can get a year of membership. Do you honestly believe we are going to have massive gaps like we did in Shadowlands? Are people forgetting that Covid played a major part in the lack of content for long amounts of time? Even before Shadowlands, the average gap betweeb a match was 3 months and around 6 months for every major patch like X.1 to X.2

And besides the only large breaks in content we have had was WoD, which they scrapped a massive amount, and Shadowlands which they likely did remove a tier, but the gaps were because of Covid.

It’s pretty normal, there’s usually some sort of sub deal just before or just after an XPac launches.
