I've Enjoyed 8.2 So Far

8.2 is far from perfect, but I’m enjoying it. I believe it’s a genuinely good patch. Nazjatar’s verticality makes getting flying feel rewarding. Having a mix between dailies and world quests is great, and the whole focus around open world design in this patch is a great start. While it has its major flaws, the sandbox features of Mechagon and seeing what they’ve started to work on in Nazjatar is a breath of fresh air in this expansion.

The raid is quite solid, and while I haven’t tried the dungeon, I’ve heard Operation: Mechagon is one of the best dungeons they’ve ever crafted, so I’m excited to try it out. The essence system adds a little bit of spice to my personal rotation.

Pathfinder sucks. Class design sucks. Artifacts suck. Warfronts and Islands aren’t that much fun still, but these were all systems that were improved upon in this latest patch. I think they want to see this all the way through before moving on. Again, it’s not perfect at all, but it’s better than 8.0 and 8.1.

With that said, I’ll hold my tongue in terms of my optimism until 9.0 and its systems are announced. I think Blizzard has finally realized that players are tired of them putting one million crappy gimmicks in the game instead of focusing on a few major aspects that players enjoy. We’ll just have to wait and see though.

Overall, not an absolutely fantastic patch, but I’m having fun, which is better than 8.0 and 8.1. I’m anxious to see what happens in 8.3 and what kind of expansion is announced at Blizzcon.

I 100% agree. I feel like while it isn’t the best, it’s the best they could do with the current systems, which I find to be an admirable action.

I’m remaining optimistic for 9.0. After all, every other expansion seems to be good, and then the opposite ones seem to be bad.

Wrath was good, Cataclysm was bad, MoP was good, WoD was bad, Legion was good, BFA is bad.

Hopefully the pattern continues, but stops after the next expansion so the rest of the expansions are good.

I really hope this is correct. I’m currently still slogging thru PF2 and it’s no fun, it shouldn’t require a period of misery like this but I don’t make the calls, so it is what it is if you want to fly I guess.

I’ll certainly have a more positive attitude once I get airborne.

I truly believe that this is the case. These past expansions have been what I considered the “terrible trifecta” of expansion-specific content.

Yeah, I’m sure Activision has a sway over the game development (the culling of the CS team across the board being a sad example), but I think the developers still have a lot of control over the game.

I think they genuinely thought the systems of BFA would be fun, and the new developer insight video shows that they’re actually addressing the concerns about class design.

Again, I’m anxious to see what comes next. I have to hold my tongue so I don’t disappoint myself if it’s a third expansion with every piece of gear as an Artifact and the entire world becoming instanced content.

It’s wild that people are talking about 9.0 when we’ve still got 2 more years of BfA.

Agreed, if they pulled a wod on us and just kept us waiting for next expac there would not be anyone playing it.

8.2 is as good as you can get without casting off the inherent shackles of BFA.

I’m guessing this is sarcasm? I’ll take the bait anyways.

It’s pretty much confirmed it’s an expansion reveal. All expansions have lasted two years, and we’ve always gotten an expansion announcement every two years. On top of that, it’s WoW’s 15th anniversary and Warcraft’s 25th anniversary.

And 8.3 is pretty much confirmed as the final patch, as Ion said we’d know the final boss by the end of Eternal Palace, and I don’t think they want to drag this into 8.4 judging by players’ reactions.

Finally, developers are saying that this Blizzcon is the biggest one for WoW ever. Obviously, take this with a grain of salt. Still an exciting prospect in my opinion, though.

Not that I’m doubting you, but when did they say it’ll be the biggest Blizzcon for WoW? Kinda want to check that out myself.

Next expansion should be out summer next next year. It will be revealed at blizzcon this year

For sure. All of the major systems and design choices for BFA will hold it back into 8.3.

Taliesin said that multiple developers told him at Blizzcon 2018 that Blizzcon 2019 would be one Blizzcon you’d want to go to in your life if you were going for WoW.

Hopefully this means something, but you never know with 'em.

8.2 has been good to me too. Been thoroughly enjoying it.

I’m hoping they take some time and release it in winter of next year. It’d be nice to see them be a bit more meticulous about what they’re putting out. I’m hoping this is the case.

Tbh its just more of the same for me. But that’s WoW in BFA these days, so I’m not complaining since I know what to expect. Just like the launch we got some new zones, new WQ’s and Dailies with a huge AP grind as well as a raid and dungeon to pursue. The initial rush of 8.2 is awesome but now that I’m done with flying I’m just like meh. I guess if I’m not a raider then not much else to do. The AP grind I guess?

That’s why I had a blast during Legion. 7.2 I had the mage tower which truly rewarded something fascinating and for each of the classes. There was a bunch of story content to pursue for all the class quests and their different artifacts and the hidden appearances too. Hopping on an alt really felt you opened the door for a bunch of new content with the order halls and different quests. Then there was still the raids, dungeons etc to pursue if that’s what I wanted.

But for BFA I’m just like meh, hop on my alt for 8.2 and still the same thing pretty much. Unless I hop on the Alliance and then I can pursue some truly different story content.

Fingers crossed, but I still remember their Diablo marketing campaign leading up to Immortal.

Fingers crossed though. I desperately want WoW to get better and what better jumping off point than the Blizzcon after the unmitigated disaster last year? They’ll be pulling out the big guns for sure.

My thing is this. As long as the classes feel rewarding to play, everything else eill fall into place.

The commented and knowing they changed too much and thats a great sign. All we can do is wait and see.

I love 8.2. Its the best they can do with what we got. Legion was untoppable for me, but 8.2 did get my wow itch back

Definitely. I get bored quite a bit with the dailies, but there’s a lot of little things to do around the zones that not a lot of people know about that I hope they streamline and add to in the future to make the replayability of outdoor content more interesting and rewarding.

I loved the Mage Tower. It encouraged me to make alts, level them, and get different challenge appearances. It was a great time. While 7.2 itself was a bit of a flop, it was still solid considering the entirety of Legion.

Can’t wait for WoW mobile! Srs though, I don’t think they’d ever do that to us. Although, a pet battle geotracking game would be kind of cool, in my personal opinion.

True! This is why I’m so excited for it. I’m gonna ask my parents a few months in advance if I can stay home from school that day. I did it during Blizzcon 2017, so I’ll definitely be doing it again if schoolwork permits.

Yeah. This helped me restore some faith in their philosophy regarding class design. It’s arguably one of the biggest things keeping players away, so if they fix that, they’re set.

this is the biggest underlying reason right here. Azerite just did nothing to help it… in fact made it worse imo because certain traits feel like trash.

But the feedback was given… and ignored… with lore even coming from his twitter safespace and saying “we should’ve listened… but look who your CM is”
