Let’s do a comparison here between Classic drop rates and Retail drop rates. Here’s an example
Classic - Between 1-2%:
Retail - Between 0.01 - 0.03%
It’s absurd that legacy profession recipes should have such ridiculous drop rates. Not only are these drop rates 1/100th of what we see in Classic versions, but it’s also drop rates from weekly locked content, AND the patterns are SOULBOUND to boot.
Fix the Sunwell profession recipe drop rates, make them Warbound, or do both.
Seconded. I’ve gone back to Sunwell to grind those patterns before and it’s brutal. Warbound would be amazing, better drop rates would be amazing and a half.
Those naga boxes farmed in Shadowmoon Valley, that are supposed to have a lot of BC patterns in them never drop patterns even though they are listed as the source in the profession tab. Neither in retail nor in Classic. They should fix that. I think the right drop rate should be 1 random pattern per 50 boxes.
Not that it helps much, but you can kill trash, run out, and reset the instance. Just don’t kill any bosses. I farmed my JC patterns by pulling everything up to Kalecgos over and over.
But yeah, agree in general. They’ll never do it, but I wish they’d take a patch or a raid tier and spend it on cleaning up the game: smooth out leveling and scaling, fix hard or impossible to do old achievements, make drop rates and professions make sense, etc.
Warbound would be amazing, although fwiw some of these patterns you can just reset before the first boss since they drop from the sunfury guys at the entrance.
It’s a bit worse when it’s bosses, or mobs that are only found mid raid
That said, yeah that it’s drop rates equivalent to Thori’dal is a bit of an eye opener.
