think about time. like a straight line showing the passage of time…
during a period of time, a melee hits you with this, this, and that… while you try casting a spell which gets pushed back however many times. start to finish, how long did it take you to cast?
so in what amount of time, how much dmg did the caster and the melee both accomplish? its getting dumb, or has been, rather. literally has been dumb for years.
the “math” behind all this long ago needed revising. the caster/melee arms race has gotten particularly unfun for many ppl. no its not CC or bleeds or this or that which are the main problem, its the element of time.
in what period of time can you do meaningful dmg to your target, when you are playing…
class A? ok, and how about…
class B?
class C?
…and so on. if you think about how much time passes vs how much you actually get done vs how much your target has done to you, its crazy lopsided in some cases. most normal human beings think of this in terms of “burst” but its actually more like… amount of overall throughput per unit of time.
what unit? a window of 5sec, 10, 60? doesnt much matter which data set you use… naturally things are more scientific if you use a broader time window but the bottom line is this… no one would be complaining about cc or bleeds or dots
if that warrior couldnt hit you multiple times for TONS of dmg in a mere handful of seconds at most
…all while youre standing there with your wang in your hand trying SO hard to get off that last cast of [some spell or other]
its been world of meleecraft since around 2012 and its getting fking old.
one potential fix is, sorry no more healing for any pure dps spec. shaman and druid should probly retain some hybrid/healing action, per their class flavor but for the most part the rock paper scissors model (which works fairly well) has been completely obliterated in recent years. the damn melee have their own rock, paper AND scissors.
i mean jesus christ. come on already. logic, yes? come on devs, the game is actually pretty decent so far this expac ALTHOUGH in the places where things are imbalanced, such examples are off the charts.
